loveme4whoiam
i only read half of the first book There is the reason you didn't like them. For myself, i'll admit that the Tom Bombadil section was very heavy for a first-time reader, but if you push through that then you get the best book (i'm counting all through books as one) ever written, in my opinion. Absolutely top-notch. However, its got to be said that i only read the book because i watched the film, so lets give a big "Yay" to PJ for that. Xionith
Same here loveme4whoiam, I saw the movie heard there was a book so I read it. And its been the only book I've read since... except for the hobbit and the silmarillion (sp?)... I voted the first choice in case you hadn't guessed. I didn't like the movies though, but that's another story... B)

Jesugandalf
how could you even imagine that somebody would hate the books ?Even if that thought haven't even arisen in your darkest nightmare, you can bet there are people who don't like the books. They can say a lot of things to support their arguments, but the one I've heard the most is something like "I couldn't get through the first 100 pages... That party stuff was so boring I coudn't read any longer...". It's also the one about "well, I can't stand a book that childish...". This is even better. Not that I agree with that, but there are people who do think that... :shifty: Ah, I also don't understand it... <_<
