dpolier
What is the cause of German appear along with english to describe magic spells in the spell inventory as well as to describe attributes? What can I do to get rid of it? Thank you.

bben46
If you install the wrong patch, German instead of English you may get this. I call it Germanglish, an interesting mash up of languages. On the Beth site be sure you download the right language version for your original game. Note there are 2 English Oblivion versions, UK & US and they are different. You may have to roll back to an earlier unpatched version or reinstall to get the right one. However, If you use Shivering Isles, there is only one English patch for both UK & US language versions. I am not aware that I downloaded a particular version. I simply installed the Game of the Year Edition here in the US. What do you mean by an earlier unpatched version or to reinstall to get the right one. Also, once a lot of mods have been installed can you go back and reinstall the original game? bben46
If you installed the GOTY (game of the year) version, there are several bugs in it. Bethesda has issued a patch. You can get it at the official site here. http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm If you have Shivering Isles (SI) installed, ONLY use the Shivering Isles patch. If you do not have Shivering isles, Only use the Oblivion patch that matches your language version - US English - and not the UK English version (SI only has one English patch for both US & UK) If you have not installed any patches yet, then your German is from a mod. I remember that Blood and Mud can cause that problem. I think they have an English version and if you reinstall the mod it overwrites the German with English. - in German English is spelled Anglias, And in German, German is Deutch. Many German mods will have DV after their name.
madman132
in German English is spelled Anglias, And in German, German is Deutch."English" is "Englisch". "Anglais" must be from yet another wacky Language :D "Deutsch" is "German". "DV" means "Deutsche Version" We do use the same Word for "Version". "Deutsche Übersetzung" = "German Translation"
