christianmonasmith
So, my buddy is having an issue where some of his mods are not showing the mod version numbers, but instead either a singular question mark, or a question mark and one half of the version number. Also, he seems to run into an issue recently where his fallout new Vegas will load, go to the main menu screen, but not load the new game, continue, settings, or any other buttons. it just goes to a black screen with a mod or tutorial message he can't click on, and he has to task manager it closed. Any help would be appreciated.
dubiousintent
As far as the version numbers issue goes, what is he using to see them? A "mod manager" (if so, which one) or in the game "Data" option, or in Windows Explorer? As for his problem starting the game, could be any number of things. Please see the 'Solutions to Starting the game problems' section in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. For any more specific help please provide the information requested in the wiki "How to ask for help" article. In particular we need to know where the game was installed, and the "load order". See "checklist item #11" in the "Troubleshooting" guide on how to post the "load order". Please see the 'Essentials for Getting Started', 'Vanilla "Load Order" ', and 'Towards Game Stability' sections of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article for general information on how to get a good stable basic game setup. -Dubious-
christianmonasmith
The way he put it is were the mod versions is being odd like were it says, version 3.4/3.4 it well say ?/3.4 or something like that.
dubiousintent
Well, Windows Explorer doesn't show it like that, so we can eliminate that. Your buddy needs to figure out what he using at the time he sees that display and what it is trying to show him. My suspicion would be that a mod manager is trying to show "Active/Installed" versions of a particular plugin. Please see the 'Mod Managers' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article for links to tutorials and videos on the primary mod managers to pin down exactly what it is trying to show. -Dubious- Edited June 23, 2017 by dubiousintent
