Hello, Im new to the whole modding thing. I am trying to get a few to work. I have got the wizards tower to work, and silver dragon weapons and armor to work. I am trying to get elven weaponty and alexsneaking gear and mountain tower to work. but somehow i dont think they are working. can you only have one on at a time? does the load order matter? thanks!

Yes the load order matters. Certain mods may conflict if they change the same area of the world-space or both attempt to edit particular textures or meshes. But forbidding conflicts, there is a limit.(But I think it's 200+) Some mods are more complicated than others and can, therefore be a bit trickier to install. Always be sure that you've correctly followed the instructions in the read-me's, and move any mod that your actively questing in to the bottom of you load order. These are generic, but often effective fixes to many peoples problems. Anytime your having problems with particular mods working, it's always best to post your statements in the associated mod threads. In this way, the authors(who know the mod better than anyone) can help you through any mod-specific complications. Hope this helps

well, I do read the readmes. and I know how to get some of them to work. i just dont know why some of them dont work. like the over-writing of the textures and meshes folders shouldnt matter, right? And if the load order matters, how can i change the load order? thanks! :)

You can have up to 255 mods at a time. However, some mods do not work well with certain other mods. Also, many mods require OBSE (Oblivion Scrip Extender), the latest Oblivion patch or the Shivering Isles expansion to work. Other mods will require that another mod be installed in order to work. Usually the author will tell you what is required in a read me document packed in the zipped mod, or in his description. The half dozen mods you have is nowhere near what some people have working in their game.

Some mods install differently also. Those that are labeled OMOD (Not OMOD Ready as those can be used as a standard esm ) require OBMM (Oblivion Mod Manager) to work and install in a different location.

Many mods include extra stuff that is not in the vanilla (standard unmodified game) Such as clothing, armor, weapons and other objects. These each require a Mesh and a texture to be seen in the game . if they are not installed or installed in the wrong place, a missing texture will show as a translucent yellow block with a purple exclamation point inside. a missing Mesh will show as either a purple object or in the case with clothing and armor - be invisible.

Sometimes the load order can matter. For example, if you have 2 conflicting objects the last one loaded will be what you see. For example, a robe from mod A is Red, a robe from mod B with the same name and game ID is Blue. If mod A loads first, then Mod B the robe will be blue in the game. If mod B loads first then Mod A, the robe will be Red.

To actually control load order you will need either OBMM or Wrye Bash. For beginners, I recommend OBMM. An explanation of OBMM is here

http://timeslip.chorrol.com/obmm.html with the download to the left of the explanation. The self installer does all the installation for you. Wrye Bash requires more technical know how to get it installed and to work with, but has a few features that OBMM doesn't have.

Well changing the load order can be done with The Oblivion Mod Manager.(OMM) Oblivion Script Extender(OBSE) is necessary for many mods out today, as well. As for overwriting the Meshes and Textures folder....I've always replaced only the specific files necessary rather than doing a complete overwrite. (Y'know....Just navigate your way through the folders, adding only the mod folders to your game directory that are necessary) And even though you didn't ask for them, my two personal favorite mods are Glenvar Castle, and The Lost Spires. (their both pretty easy to install, too  )

EDIT: Looks like I was typing this and collecting URL links while ben responded!

thanks for the help guys. still alil confused.. As i said before, I can get some of them to work. others just wont show up at all in the game. (elven weaponry cottage isnt there) (the chest labbled "incomming mail" isnt there for the mountain tower mod) (and the armor and weapons in the cave for the alexsneaking gear isnt there) I know i installed correctly. esp and meshes and textures into the data file. (because i have gotten a few other mods to work) just kinda confusing... :(

Hmm......not to insult your intelligence or anything. But are you sure you've checked them in the pre-game menus?

Lol, you mean under the play button? the data files? yes. I have the ones checked that i want. still no go. But some of them work. like i said.

Yup, thats the one I meant. I'm not personally familiar with the mods you listed, do they require that you complete a certain quest first or advance to a certain point in the main story-line?
