blaineh
I have decided to learn littlebit about texturing, I understand some of it but have few specific questions.I opened vanilla pine tree branch texture in PS with dds plugin and it looks like (cropped):https://gyazo.com/62aa51958d55c55cd895f288b4ee89b0Questions:1. Three different background colors, I'm guessing they are color codes references to correct mesh; first is like tundra, second forest and last dead or something?2. Where and how do I designate those colors if I were to make completely new texture/mesh mod from scratch? a) How does the background color stuff affect making normal maps?3. If I wanted to start by just editing the vanilla texture, what would be the correct order?a) Open texture dds in PS without mipmaps and convert it to lossless format and saveb) upscale the picture by x2 or x4 etc and then proceed to make the higher quality texturesc) make normal map from the texture file (have to read how to do that)d) save the files on dds format and make mip mapsIs that correct order or did I miss something? What about alpha channel stuff with textures like these (tree branches/leaves), do I need to do that too? blaineh
Ok, my first try:https://gyazo.com/4a81be074eda219aa742b0f0efbd820aClearly something went wrong, I used quite high resolution textures, so why is the end result so blurry/lowquality?
