Klinkle
I was trying to make my save game character into a cm partner, and when I go to wyre bash and right click an esp or esm and click import>face then select my save game, I get this error Traceback (most recent call last): File "bash\basher", line 12802, in Execute File "bash\bosh", line 13095, in save_getFace File "bash\bosh", line 13185, in save_getPlayerFace File "bash\bosh", line 13080, in save_getNamePosUnicodeDecodeError: 'ascii' codec can't decode byte 0xa2 in position 0: ordinal not in range(128) I've looked in the forums but can't seem to find anything on this. Wyre Bash, I am sure is a great tool for those who understand it's outdated and wierd ways. I recently came across cobl. At first I avoided this mod as I thought this was a mod coded in the very first computer language called COBOL! I was wrong, I love the mod cobl, but it requires you to create a bash patch with most of the stuff it contains! It is awkward, confusing and a general pain in the arse to install and get up and running. Why bother when you have OBMM! To install something in Wyre Bash goes something like this! Go to the local baker, buy a loaf and cut off the end piece, save that for later! Next buy a leek, as the game will not progress without one!Go back and load "Vegetables must prevail" mod,esp . Add this and god knows what else into a bashed patch and ignite it with petrol! Who the hell can be bothered with all this tripe! Best Wishes Zapata935

FCOM looks like it might be too much though. Installed Wrye Bash once sometime ago but never could get it to start-up. Always one error after another. Now that the game is running fairly well with 240 mods I don't want to start all over again just to play with the standalone Wrye Bash.
humanbean234
I was running the Python-dependant WryeBash 241, and the 'Import Face' function worked. Upgraded to the Python-dependant unicode version 250.5, and it was broken. Retrograded to the 250 standalone version... still broken (the same way you describe). I've commented on the upload thread, and the authors are aware of the problem. In the meantimes, if it's critical for you to be able to import faces into .esp, ... version 241 worked. If you're just trying to put a new face onto your character, you can probably make-do with Oblivion Face Exchange Lite, or FGtoOblivion (if you're using a FaceGen file). hfffoman
Macole I am far from an expert in the way Oblivion, its mods, or the construction set work. I was at first put off by Bash being awkward to learn about but it is so cleverly programmed it does nearly everything for you automatically. Its installation method is so much better than OBMM, nobody running more than a dozen mods should be using OBMM any more. Without any complicated setting up you can switch between different mods and test them in a few seconds. For example yesterday I was feeling unhappy with my water, so I quit my game, uninstalled Realistic Water and switched to enhanced water, and was back in my game and had decided to continue with enhanced water all within a few seconds. No complications. I can go back to realistic water in a few seconds any time if I want to. I no longer use OBMM for a single mod (though I did use it to unpack a few OBMM files before installing them with Wrye Bash). The bash patch is utterly simple. One click on the boss button and all the mods are ordered. Click to rebuild your patch and all the options are configured automatically for you. I spent a couple of hours studying the readme and the pictorial guide and it felt daunting but in practice you just keep clicking ok. It is a brilliant piece of work and you are really missing out if you stay away from it. The hardest thing to do is installing Bash and python and that isn't very hard.
