dpolier
Suddenly, the game is crashing when I wait. What is the likely cause of this?thank you
dyfed99
Just disable the autosave.. It's strongly suggested to do this if you're running many mods!
dpolier
Just disable the autosave.. It's strongly suggested to do this if you're running many mods!Disable it where? I don't use any of the auto saves on travel, rest or wait. Another weird thing is that every time I load the game the options section for video changes from what I set it on? What do you think would cause this? thank you for replying
dyfed99
1) Launch Oblivion, in the main menu select options then game and turn off all three the autosave settings. Then, if you want to change the video settings, select video and change them. 2) Launch a new game or load a saved one. 3) While in game go in the console and type <saveini>, then press <enter> 4) Close the console and close the game (no matter if it will crash or not) 5) Re-launch the game. Now you have the new settings for the game and the video menu saved! This because Oblivion saves the new settings in the ini while you close it, but it will not save anything if it crashes! With the command <saveini> in the console you allow the game to write the new settings in the ini during the game. That is all!

Whenever I opened the console saveini kept disappearing. And then all of a sudden or so it seemed I went back into the game and the settings were saved. I hope it is permanent even though saveini doesn't show up in console. Does that make sense? Also what do you think is the best way to make a load order, manually following guidelines, auto bash or fcom helper? My computer runs on 64 bit -- do I need to tweak this for the game?thnak you in advance
dyfed99
I hope it is permanent even though saveini doesn't show up in console. Does that make sense?Sorry.. no! What means 'saveini doesn't show up'? You have to type just <saveini>, press enter and close the console. That is! The game will overwrite your ini silently and the next time you restart it you'll have the new settings saved. But it worked, as for your writing. Also what do you think is the best way to make a load order, manually following guidelines, auto bash or fcom helper?Personally I use dev_akm suggestions about FCOM load order, setting it with OBMM. Then I adjust it using the f_order.txt of FCOM helper as guideline, still using OBMM. Finally I load every plugin with TES4View for a fine-tuning of the load order (although this could be a long process). When I get the final load order I set the BALO groups and how many offsets I need assigning then every mod to the appropriate group\offset. If you aren't so skilled in the use of BALO you can avoid to use it and use OBMM instead. My computer runs on 64 bit -- do I need to tweak this for the game?Make sure to install Oblivion in C:\Oblivion in Vista x64 turning off the UAC as well. I have followed your suggestions perfectly but the changes don't stay. Every time I go back to play the game the settings are different. On one occasion it said in the console - cell charge something, detection level 7.0 cell bound on crossover 4.0 and cells crashed 4/4. And then a few minutes later that disappeared. Any ideas? In addition when I pan around now there is a slight waver in the image that wasn't there before?
dyfed99
You're using Streamline. So you have to disable the Streamsave in the sl.ini. Streamline also manage directly the Oblivion.ini changing the video settings in it to smooth the FPS. If you want stable settings you have to unable Streamline, then copy the Oblivion_default.ini located in the Oblivion folder in User\Documents\My Games\Oblivion overwriting the Oblivion.ini. Then run the launcher allowing the game to set the Video options and press Options after this. Press 'Max Settings' button if you want and change the monitor resolution if you have a big monitor. Then redo all the procedure described above.

I don't have a Oblivion default.ini. in that folder just one that says Oblivion ini. What does run the Launcher mean? Does that mean start the game in the usual way? And then redo the procedure again? What does that mean? Unable Streamline again? When do I enable it? And when do I disable Streamsave? I deeply appreciate you taking the time to help me with this but I really don't get what to do.
