Game Crashes On Startup Saying "FalloutNV Has Stopped Working"

Hi there. I've been missing this game for quite some time, so while I am not an expert, I have a grasp on most things. Unfortunately, New Vegas crashes whenever I get to the main menu and stops working all together. The intros play just fine, but the game crashes at the main menu. Neither LOOT nor NMM have reported any missing master files, as I made sure to download everything that was needed. I also have New Vegas Anti-Crash.

So it turns out NV Anti Crash wasn't activated, so I activated it. Now NVSE loads the cursor outside of the game and gives it an endless loading cursor while the game loads and if I click on the game at all, it says that program has stopped responding.

Ok, so, loading it through NVSE apparently doesn't work, but if I load the game through the actual Steam loader causes it to work.

While it is interesting to seen one's progress on troubleshooting, I believe you can just edit the previous post with new information instead of making new posts.

If it's been a couple of years since you last played, you might want to see the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article to review things you may have forgotten.

 

Please see the 'Issue: Modded game Hangs on startup' entry in the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide.

 

And despite those suggestions, we really do need to see the information requested in "How to ask for help". There are things other than "load order" that can cause the problems.
