Minutemen quest choices

Imagine if, as General of the Minutemen, you could actually affect how the Minutemen get rebuilt! Like, if you could rebuild the Minutemen in a slightly more bottom-line focused mercenary group, instead of them just being boy scouts?

There are a handful of ways you could do that. Here are a few examples:

Ability to haggle.

Currently, Minutemen radiant quests always pay approximately 100 caps. Imagine if you were able to negotiate for 200, 300, and 400 caps by passing yellow, orange, and red speech checks? We could generic dialogue from other haggling situations, using such lines as ...

"Hey, I'd love to help, but there's a small matter of expenses."

"It's not just the cost of ammunition. Danger means doctor's fees."

"Last chance. Put some real money on the table or we're done."

You should make this so that Preston hates it when you haggle, effectively canceling out the "love" you get from accepting the quest. Needless to say, don't take Preston with you when you want to do this.

Accepting dirtier jobs

Currently, the only jobs settlers will ask you for is protecting them from raiders, ghouls, and super mutants, and clearing out new settlement locations. Imagine if they also asked you to do slightly dirtier jobs, like stealing particular items from Diamond City or Goodneighbor merchants for them to sell at their shop booths or killing otherwise innocent civilians like the Nuka-World quest "Taking Out the Trash." Accepting these quests would gain affinity with the likes of Cait, MacCready, and Gage while refusing these quests would gain affinity with the noble companions like Preston and Piper.

Since the job is dirtier, I'd imagine the money you get should be higher. Initially, 250 caps without haggling, then increasing in 250-cap units all the way up to 1,000 caps apiece. Lines of dialogue you could use for haggling could include ...

"I don't mind danger, so long as I'm paid well enough." Alternatively, "I do a job, I get paid."

"You can do better than that!" Alternatively, "This is just a bad deal."

"I'll walk out right now if you don't make me a real offer."

Anyone feel like making this mod?

From a lore perspective (and I'm by no means a purist) the MM would be the wrong faction for that sorta thing. What you would really want would be the development of a group like the Gunners as a player faction. This is not a bad idea as they play a relatively large role in the game anyway and yet were poorly developed by Bethesda.

Actually, there's plenty of lore to suggest that the Minutemen fell to pieces the last time primarily BECAUSE they didn't supply their soldiers with enough food, water, and resources. A lot of former minutemen have it written in their terminals ... hey, people don't love me anymore, but at least I've got food now!

Here's a video that helps explain that:
