Brolvir
Howdy folks, new to the whole idea of modding, been reading up on things (it's a LOT to take in at once) and I've been playing around with some textures/meshes. I edited the image file using GIMP, and I used NifSkope to edit the gloves .nif file. The item shows up on the ground and in my inventory missing the entire leather bracer portion, which is what I want, but when it gets equipped it either acts like I never edited the .dds file, or it's being covered by the robes layer. Here's some screenshots to hopefully better explain what I'm trying to say. In this one, it's hiding the metal handguard, but I wanted that to show up OVER the robes sleeves, like it normally would, but without the leather bracer clipping the sleeves. And here they are, completely unchanged, though I swear I changed the image file. Am I not doing something right with the .dds file in GIMP? I know enough to make myself dangerous, but I'm nowhere near being a pro at any of this. Most of my previous experience came from playing around in Photoshop years ago. Any clarifications or direction would be appreciated.
jet4571
That's the dismember partition. Theres nothing you can really do with it as its the way the game cuts off part so there is no clipping. To fix that particular armor/clothing you would need to modify the sleeves to extend far enough down to hide the missing glove. Changing the glove wont fix it. magnemoe
Have an opposite question, is it an way to get robes/ dresses to hide the tops of boots, many creates clipping. I thought the ankle body slot did this but it don't appears to work.
Brolvir
I have no idea, but I know what you mean. Wearing any of the robes {Adept, Master, Apprentice) and wearing the white boots with the furry rim, it clips through the leggings on the robe. If what Jet says is true, the models are tied to a dismember point. At least, that's what I'm trying to wrap my head around. This is what the Psiijic Gloves looks like normally, it clips through the robes sleeves. I just wanted a way to remove the upper portion of the gloves that did this, but from what I'm finding out now, is that the gloves essentially "replace" a body part, thus creating a new dismember frame? So if someone cut off my hand, it'll cut off near the elbow instead of near the wrist? If that's the case, this is a bigger undertaking then I originally thought! anb2004
guess the only way is to edit it with 3d apps, well you can make it work with playing the texture with alpha but it will completely hassle to do cause the gap between it is to close, or you might want to find another glove/gauntlet/bracer that that wrap the wrist perfectly.. well the game was created only can decapitated the head so dont worry about your arm is go dissapear. what you above is the same thing like i do with leather bracer that i mix with stormcloak gloves, had to tweak stormcloak glove texture with alpha so the bracer part not go clipping with leather bracer but i had to extend it a bit so it will give no gap in the wrist.
