rgx02
The quicksave is known to be bugged in fallout. Try using Casm and see if it helps http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=36730Disable autosaves from the settings. It wont be needed anymore. Are u using fallout 4gb enabler and fake fullscreen? see if those stabilize your game. Edited February 27, 2012 by rgx02
CMoth
I didn't have these problems prior to a few major mods used. I gave FNVEdit a try, followed all of the instructions (didn't do much really really but made a couple of patches for things that were obviously conflicted). However, the persistent issue has been the game locking up on me every single time I try to access the save menu. Quicksaving wasn't doing it anymore. Going through doors were fine. I was getting random CTD's at odd times but the one thing that ALWAYS caused a CTD was hitting Esc to go to the menu. I did an uninstall, deleted the Fallout New Vegas Folder from my Steam files on my desktop and am now doing a fresh install. I'll start playing the game to see if there are any issues. If none, I'll start reintroducing mods with teh ones I've learned I really want and throw out the "I'll try it" stuff. If THAT works then I'll reload my previous save and accept the fact that quite a bit of excessive stuff will be unavailable. ETA: Oh, I also plan on doing quite a bit of research into what mods actually help improve the game's efficiency and trying those out a bit at a time. The one thing that has really pissed me off is that on install it doesn't ask me WHERE I want to install the game, it just puts it where it wants. CMoth
Finally got everything working properly with the mods I wanted installed. No lockups (not one) after a few hours of game-play .Awesome. Made the fresh re-install and added mods and adjusted the load order after the previous trial and error. So far, so good. The only major mod I didn't re-install was the Mission Mojave pack. Nothing wrong with it but I think it conflicts somehow with Project Nevada. Regardless, it's working nicely now. Thanks to everyone who replied with your suggestions.

Thanks to everyone who replied with your suggestions. Well I don't have as many mods installed as most people here. But here are a few things that i've found help stabilize my game. http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=35999 http://nvse.silverlock.org/ There's also this video done by Gopher which goes through how to install CASM the 4gb patch for NVSE fallout and the fake windows mode. Beyond that there's a few minor tweaks that you could use that he mentions in his video. and he also has this video on stutter remover though I don't personally use it. One caviat about Mission Mojave. While BOSS will automatically sort the mods it recognizes ((which is a great number of them actually)) certain mods fall through the cracks. it automatically puts those at the bottom. But Mission Mojave needs to be put as high as possible in your load order. and BOSS doesn't recognize Mission Mojave at all. anyways hope this helps out with making your game as stable as possible. if you're still having issues I'd suggest doing a clean install and moving New vegas from the C: Program files (x86) area and just moving it to C:games. UAC sometimes activates it's protection functions When they aren't needed and in fact cause issues. You can also Disable UAC altogether to avoid this but I don't really suggest it. Also some other things you might want to look for is possible optional bug fix updates from the mod authors whose work you have downloaded and a list of known conflicts with other mods. And in the future unless you know for a fact that the mods will work well together I'd try installing one at a time and quick testing them from your save file. Usually if there's a crash worthy issue it will become immediately noticable when you enter the area the mod occupies if not the moment you boot the game up.
