Luscilla
I figured out what was causing that glitch with siege at Kvatch, it was MMM. I disabled MMM and relaoded an earlier save and the quest worked flawlessly. And about the sound effects going mute..well..it skips. It doesn't stay mute, it just kind of skips in an out then returns to normal. I've been having this issue since before I ever installed any mods. Can't remember what the solution was, but think it was a fairly easy fix.
Luscilla
Anout a week and a half ago I had to make another character because my save files became corrupt, and I kept getting runtime errors. I was 13 hours in. Now when I started my current character everything worked fine, but I had one CTD a day, about 6 hours of playtime. I'm 25 hours in with this one and now the game is becoming unstable again. Just earlier I got an error message saying "run time error!" then I crashed to the desktop. Not long after that I opened the world map and the game, and my PC, just froze up and the music began skipping. I had to shut off the PC. It seems like the longer I play a character the more unstable the game becomes. With my first character I had only OOO installed and the respawn rate set a year and that was probably the cause of the problems I had with that. I read later on that setting the repawns above 2 weeks can cause problems. I reinstalled the game after this, but it only helped for alittle while as you can clearly see. Before I installed any mods the game worked just fine. No shuttering, no freezing, no CTD's, and no crashes on exit.
Tamujiin
Well, I know a runtime error is a video card error. the next error you will get after that is that your video card failed. Then you will smell hot wires cooking, then you will have to fork out 150-200 bucks to get a new decent video card. Save yourself the stress, Buy a new video card, maybe some ram. Dont use OOO and MMM without the FCOM patch, which means you might need to get Frans. Vagrant Also said something about RAM overflow in another post. Vagrant posting like he does has helped me with a few issues, all you need to do is look around. It might also have to do with something else entirly different, not even game related as i expirenced similar symptoms about a month ago, All my games acted wierd when i closed them down, i did a system reboot. Everything works great now. I only have Onlivion installed and it works like a peach. And dont complain about backing everything up, it should only take you 2 hours at the most. There are also Fixes for Game glitches that have to do with time played, cant remeber the names. i wish you luck good sir. EDIT: I have a Nvidia Geforce 7600 Video card 256 ram, 1500 or so ram, and run about 250 mods at once. I get the occasional CTD while playing maybe once every 20 hours of game play. Sometimes when i exit OB, i do get a CTD. I have a hardware monitor and my cpu tempeture never gets higher than 140 f, which isnt hot to the touch. My fans run around 1500 rpms a minute to 2800 when my cpu is warmed up. I have 4 fans. I live with the occasional CTD because it happens. I also use vista, ( poor me yes i know ) the CTD are to far and few between each other for me to care. And i play my game with all settings on ultra highHDR turn all sliders to 100, except the grass slider and trees., i turn that to 50, and occasionally get a we bit of lag, nothing worth crying about though. Also i dont use AA. About every 10 hours it takes about a minute for the game to load when going through the loading screen from place to place. Doesnt bother me. What your problem really sounds like to me is that either taking FCOM off my mod list would allow me to max everything out with x 16 AA on, or you have more than a MOD/OB problem. And i say that with the knowledge my system kinda sucks. Its 2 years old. I also have a few conflicts when i do a conflict report, but nothing conflicts in game with anything that i can notice. Get wyre bash it has that time bug fix. It also has a few other fixes that you might find useful. My advice to you is either clean the dust out of your tower, make sure all your fans are running, and do a system restore or clean your harddrive of unused programs/music/files ect ect ect. Defrage about 10 times in a row, and run every virus/spyware/bug scanner you got twice. If that dont work something is seriously wrong with your mod list that i cant see. And i have most of those mods. Like i said i wish you good luck sir.
Luscilla
I disabled more wilderness life and resized races, and stop running the game through OBSE(Oblivion script extender) and started a new character. I've played twice, 4 hours total with very little shuttering and no CTD's. I was thinking that maybe the reasons I lagged so much in exterior locations was all the creatures in the game world, as I have spawn rates moderately increased, and had more wilderness life, and the repawn rate is one week. Thanks for the suggestions, einhander888. I do hope you're wrong about the graphics card, though, lol. I just bought this whole PC almost two months ago. I don't have any problems with my other games, such as The Sims 2, Rome: Total War, UT2004, and Titan Quest, NWN2, and Lord of the Rings Online. The Sims 2 is pretty demanding too, but not as much as Oblivion. But I have 4 expansions running along with it, one in particular is Seasons, which makes the game even more demanding. NWN2 was very demanding, but again not as much as Oblivion, but close. I played it just fine with high settings. And I'm a miss not a sir, lol :) I have a question, is it alright to alt+ctrl+del out of the game from the main menu?

macmert
Sorry I couldnt help myself but joining in the discussion... I also have problems with oblivion recently... I am using 30 40 mods at the same time ranging from additional quests to little surface packs and so on... I have a runtime error too, and I want to share my two pennies with you and correct me if I am wrong... First of all as far as I know a C++ runtime error is not about the vidcard heating up or something, because if you play another games that demand a lot from vidcards like bioshock, medieval II, Assassins Creed and play with no problems, than it is not your vidcard heating up, I also monitor my vidcard which is a 8800 GTS OC edition with 320 MB ram, and the dangerous heating temp is 140 F and my card always stay at 50 60 ish :D, and I used to have gigantig FPS (didnt really looked at it but it used to work without a slightest stutter) now I have real minor lags and load ups, which bothers me after a flawless 40 50 hours :D... I think you should check your system, the first thing people think is that if you have a problem with a game they think it is harware based, but the thing is you should check your software too... First of all if you are using a 1 year old windows with a pc, throw that HDD from a window :D Cause windows tends to expand as you all know after some usage... For example I cleaned up 3GB s of Temp files just yesterday after 8 hours :D also it is quite probable that you might have a virus a trojan or something in your system, that kind of files can screw your system quite badly... What I am saying is if you still own the same hardware that you have no problems with, and do have problems now, you should check your software too, after I cleaned up 3GB s of temp files, my runtime errors stopped, but now I have random crashes, which is like 2 in 3 hours :D but used to have none and I am 100 percent sure that I have some kind of trojan and virus :D
Vagrant0
I have a question, is it alright to alt+ctrl+del out of the game from the main menu?Probably not, since that causes memory to be rapidly unloaded, and can cause corruption of game files, fragmenting, and possibly some unnecessary crash reports. Doing it often enough might even cause damage to your RAM. And you should probably refrain from "bumping" your threads, it isn't allowed here.
