the way i do it is using oblivion/fallout mod managers inbuilt bsa unpacker i find the file im looking for and save it in my blender folder. i then open up the .nif file in nifskope and go into file/export/export .OBJ and again save it in my blender folder. next open up blender again go into file/import/ wavefront (.obj) it should then open it in blender and you can mess about with it too your hearts content.

This sounds like something I could do if I can do it with Blender 2.62, no matter what I do Blender 2.49b doesnt respond on my machine, I am thinking to try the 2.49a to see if it does any better.

The only problem with converting to .obj is that you lose ALL bone weights so you'll have to completely re-rig the armor if you go that route.

I suppose thats why 2.49 is recommended over the newer versions.

Thanks folks.
