Need help with texture problems

Recommended Posts

So im getting back into playing New vegas. I started a new game without mods to make sure everything ran good. And i slowly added mods and tested to see if it works. The games runs great. But im having a weird issue where when the game starts the screen turns purple when the obsidain logo comes up. I get red sqaures in the loading screens where the loading icon is at. Im also getting weird texture issues at the Bison Steve Hotel where the walls are changing color. And i don't recall any mods that changes the hotel on my load order.

You have a number of "inactive" mods (< filename >=0) present. Move them out of the "Data" folder as they will cause problems. But first confirm that you really do want them inactive. You also have some "All DLC" files. Those require ALL of the DLCs be present. If you disable "Dead Money", then you can't use "All DLC" version files for other plugins. In addition you need to rename the equivalent "< DLC >.nam" file (i.e. "DeadMoney.nam") to something else, as the ".nam" file causes the game engine to automatically load that DLC even if it is not active.

Don't install plugins you don't intent to use (i.e. "NevadaSkies - TTW Edition.esp=0"), nor two versions that provide essentially the same functions (i.e. install only one of "NevadaSkies - Basic Edition.esp" or "NevadaSkies - Ultimate DLC Edition.esp", but not both). Again, just leaving them inactive is not enough. Also, don't use two mods that compete (i.e. "Nevada Skies" and "FNV Realistic Wasteland Lighting") to control some aspect of the game engine (i.e. weather). That causes more than one script to begin fighting for control and losing track of the current state of the game. It's just trouble waiting to happen.

Please see the 'Third Rule: The Rule of One' and 'Merge Patch File' section of the wiki "FNV General Mod Use Advice" article. You need a "merge/bash patch".

Finally, your startup problems sound like you are running out of memory, which shouldn't be the case with so few mods. Have you applied a 4GB patch? Please see the 'Checklist items 4, 6 & 7' entries of the wiki "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. If you are running Win10, then see the 'Issue: Vanilla game Hangs on startup' section as well.
