SluggoV2
Since I'm just starting out, I thought I would do a simple bow retexture, but for some reason I can't find the 1stperson mesh for the steel/hunting bow. Also for the textures, I only found only found a xxxn_.dds file, no xxx_m.dds, for the Iron/Imperial bow which may be normal, but I'm not sure. Anyone have this problem? FYI...I'm using FOMM for extraction. Edited February 25, 2012 by SluggoV2
galy3
The best way to know if somthing exist, is to use Ck and nifskoop Ironbow is shadertype 0, there is no use for _m.dss. To use reflection map it need to be set to shadertype 1Some weapons and armor don't use 1stperson mesh.
Sm0kescreen
I am struggling with that re-texture as we speak, one thing I have found out is that there is no 1stperson mesh for the hunting bow. There is an item in the ck called 1stpersonsteelbow that you can find by filtering under (all), but it just points to the steelbow.nif file. Also be sure to test it, mine works and looks great in 1st and 3rd person but for some reason it vanishes when I drop it.
SluggoV2
Yeah, I'm using CK and Nifskope, just thought that all weapons had a 1stperson mesh, so that's good to know. I also wasn't sure about all textures not having normal and mipmaps. I still have a lot to learn. Lol Thanks for the info...
SluggoV2
I'm having the same problem now....any luck solving it? I made a mod that retextures the Hunting/Steel Bow and the Imperial/Iron Bow for my Ranger and Thief like characters trying to make them look a little more stealthy. After finally figuring out where I was screwing up (looking at you Nifskope!), I actually got the mod loaded. Like you, the first/third person views look great, even looks good in a weapon rack. But, as soon as I dropped the Imperial Bow it vanished. I think it may have something to do with setting collisions...but I don't know, just guessing. It also doesn't have the "draw" animation. the string is just in its normal state (not pulled back). The preview image for both is also a bit messed up...they just don't look like the default ones. The Hunting/Steel Bow works fine, and the Imperial/Iron Bow, other than what I have stated above, works fine. Any suggestions on how or what to do to remedy this situation? Sm0kescreen
Unfortunately no, I haven't had much time to look at it yet. If you place the bow in a cell it will exist on the ground like a normal object, also on a rare occasion the drop item will work, but it will be floating until something interacts with it. galy3
It is not vanished, It just falling through the ground, cause there is no collision detection. So far this is what I get here. But I don't know how to create a collision detection, sorry, I just copy the branch from an other .nif.
SluggoV2
Yeah, that's what I was thinking too, that it's just falling through the floor. Unfortunately, I made a bad choice by including that bow in my first retexture, but if I stick with it, it may just teach me more. :)
GomuGomu64
Ever heard of BSAUnpacker? Use that on a few .bsa files named Meshes.BSA and Textures.BSA Your welcome.
