Nebrule
I put addressing this issue off, thinking surely it's a common problem that has quick fix by now, yet I can find no one with a similar issue.. When zooming in with any(vanilla included) scoped weapon I get these white bars on the edges of the reticles. lowering the screen resolution fixes the problem, but thats a heck of a sacrifice. It's almost as if the reticle/image is being over stretched, could this possibly be fixed through geck? http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7045/6781433136_3408049346_b.jpg Thanks for the help! GrindedStone
I got a gut feeling that this is an issue with the weapon's settings for field of view. What are you running for screen resolution? I know there is a mod that allows you to zoom in with scopes, that might be the easy way to fix it. Nebrule
I tried editing some of the weapons fov but that only seems to change the magnification, still get the bug. I've seen that mod before, I guess I'll give it a try.
GrindedStone
Go to Data/meshes/interface/Hud/ See if you find a mesh there named Scope01.nif this means that some modder unpacked it, in order to select it so they could put it on a weapon, though it shouldn't be required in order to use the scope now that the mod is already created. They could have for one reason or another modified the scope, for example deleting one of the 4-5 layers that make up that mesh. Most of the artwork is in alpha too so your multisampling settings will effect it. You could delete the unpacked one, which should default back to the vanilla, or you could unpack the vanilla an replace the one you have. There is also a few mods that deal with scopes one of which I saw dealt with providing more real world looking scopes... You never answered what resolution you were running. I seen other people doing this as well. I have a 1600x1200 screen, but I can run the game in 1280x1024 and get the same amount of detail only the physics & animation are much smoother. Though to do this the screen resolution is set inside the .ini config folders because it isn't selectable in the games options. I haven't switched it back to native resolution yet because it's worked so well. Though I also switched the desktop to this resolution to keep it from scaling up an down, so use one of the selectable resolutions for your desktop which isn't selectable in the game, then force it in the .ini Edited February 26, 2012 by GrindedStone
Nebrule
Well, I tried the "zoom mod" it's a great mod but didn't do anything for me. My resolution is 1920x1080 which is a 16:9 ratio resolution, and now that I think about it, That is the problem. Most computer monitors are 16:10 (8:5) with all the common resolutions. The next step down for me is 1280x720 which fixes the bug, but man what a drop in visuals. Ive ignored the problem this long so I guess I'm cool with it. Thanks for responding. GrindedStone
I quickly adjusted this attached mesh. The main shape was already a 16:9 but there were two layers that were 4:3 I'm also not exactly sure about the 4th layer which is a partial circle. These edited layers will need texture work an adjusting the UV in order to actually create a 16:9 scope. However I wanted to see if this would help at all before creating an actual full version which may require creating new textures.
