Wow, that was a journey. In my case I had multiple mods causing crashes in Falkreath. Just got done with a good test of the area. I will post again if I have any further problems, but for now, I think I can start enjoying the game. Best of luck to the rest of you guys.

I even went as far as to remove Hearthfire entirely, which seemed to help a bit, but still crashed without it.

Doesn't matter if I load my junk save, my clean save with hearthfire, my clean save without hearthfire, a brand new game via the COC command (at Riverwood). I still crash if I run around Falkreath, either by running around the water area at the mill or by running up the mountain behind the mill, up the waterfall.

With a completely vanilla game I didn't see any crashes.

These are mods pretty much everyone uses without apparent issues; I do not see what's wrong.

I've been troubleshooting CTDs for the last 2 weeks. I previously had over 200 mods installed, my data folder being 33GB in size. Eventually I just gave up and uninstalled EVERYTHING and started from scratch. Now I have only reproduced a crash in Falkreath, and cannot for the life of me figure it out.

Well, add me to the list of confused players who can no longer approach Falkreath. Disabling SMIM allowed me to get closer to the town, so I'm thinking its a memory issue, but I should have more than enough VRAM to handle it. Riverwood is a lot more memory intensive and I very rarely have issues there. Going to try reducing some LOD settings and see how that works out.

I had an issue with the Falkreath CTD triangle as well. Instincts told me that one of the Populated (Lands, Cities, Forts) mods I had installed were the cause of it. Turned out to be correct... at least for now. I've only tested it once.

I have the same problem with the Falkreath CTD. For me, it seems to be directly tied to SKSE. If I turn SKSE off and play with the default launcher, the game works fine. But as soon as I start it up with SKSE, whether I turn my mods on or off, it crashes in the same exact area without fail. Been trying to fix this for the last few days to no avail.

  • 2 weeks later...

Had this problem just recently. kept getting CTD's upon exiting The Jarl's Longhouse in Falkreath. Tried disabling all the mods. tried backtracking thru save files to get to the same destination. Almost gave up and re-rolled.

Used boss and ran wryebash. everything was still the same. following boss' Load Order. HOWEVER. I noticed boss placed the Unofficial patches in an order that conflicted with my Reproccer and ASIS. Played all unofficial patches after all Official DLCs. as well as after SPIKE.esm.

Miraculously fixed the 100% CTD.

I'm not saying this fix is sure proof. But its worth a shot. Check with Wrye Bash and TES5edit for possible conflicts.
