Wood Chopping Block not appearing

Hello,

Totally new modder here. I placed a wood chopping block next to a farm in Markarth, and I see it in my .esp in the Creation Kit. It is clearly above ground, and yet when I load the game, it is not there. I can see the item in the cell. Can someone point me in the right direction? Can you just place items on the landscape like that? Meaning, I went to Markarth using the Cell panel "World Space" drop down.

edit/update: well, finally got to see my chopping block by going to the Tamriel Worldspace, and placing it there. However, the animation starts well enough for chopping wood right up to the point of raising the axe to do the actual chop, but it doesn't chop any wood. Ugh. Anyone? Ha!

Well, I tried pulling apart a working chopping block in Whiterun and didn't see any other items or "resources" sitting there to indicate continuance of the animation. I checked the various tabs for the resource, and they're all the same (of course). Hmmm . . ..

I have the same problem. I think it might be something to do with the placement of the chopping block? I am trying to find out. I will try to do the nawmesh there, and also a different height. I'll let you know if I'll figure out how to do it. Maybe it si something to do with the fact that there is no NPC assigned to it. Anyway I'll keep u updated.

I am also having this same problem placing any wood chopping blocks in my mod, IF i have a wood cutters axe in my inventory. However if I do not have one it runs the animation normally and I get get firewood, but still get the error message telling me I need an axe.

This bug is only happening to chopping blocks I place. all others function fine, even ones added by other mods. after digging every thing I can see at least looks identical between my chopping blocks and any others.

This seems to be a minor thing but it completely ruins any immersion by either not having chopping blocks or this bug running.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

anyone find a fix for this?

*edit* just tested that if I drop my woodcutters axe from my inventory it lets me use the woodcutters block, gives me a message about need an axe but still chops and gives me wood, is there s script missing or something maybe?

Sorry to necropost, but I think I found a solution to this problem for anyone who happens to stumble upon this thread searching for a solution. The wood chopping blocks don't work properly if your player character is currently in the same cell as the chopping block when you change the .esm. The solution is simple: do your stuff in the CK, then start the game and load from a save where you're in a different cell from the block, and then travel to where the block is and it should now work correctly. I don't know why this is; I'd imagine it's to do with the chopping block script not initializing properly, but at least it's a "fix".
