FlyingHigh10000000
PS. There's always two sides to every story. Remember that when you're reading the bitter threads from people who dislike the Nexus on other forums. They tend to either be outright lies, or to omit very pertinent facts that are necessary to get the full picture of the story, which is basically lying through omission. I'm sorry, but that just hasn't proven true all the time in my experience. Many complaints I've seen elsewhere have been quite fair, and have provided proof in the form of screenshots. Unless you're implying that people are purposely editing screenshots of posts in your boards that are either no longer around or lost in the sea of posts to make your site look bad. The problem I've had here is that there are rules against even claiming fault on the part of a moderator to anyone /but/ a moderator. This encourages a blue code much like what's in the modern police system, where facts can easily be covered in the name of peace. I've had a few encounters myself, where I've said something, and been /menaced/ by a staff member in private over something. A moderator that was not involved in the prior incident. I had a screenshot, might still have it. I'd rather not stir that old wound up, though. Just pointing out that there have been times where criticism is justified, and withheld in fear of a ban. Nobody should have to fear anyone in a community, least of all the people that either volunteered/were recruited to keep it running smoothly. The short version: If you allowed complaints against moderators to be conducted in a civil manner, publicly, you'd probably have a lot less accusations of corruption on other sites, and you'd be able to root out the trolls that can't even come up with a decent defense for their actions even faster. I'm not saying turn it into a mob rule type thing. That's never worked. But don't hide away all information surrounding someone's supposed infractions, and give them a chance to defend themselves beyond 'You're banned, email us if you have a problem with that." It gets annoying when a moderator threatens someone with a ban over something many can see as trivial, especially when the person in question can't "fight back" so to speak, and instead just has to deal with any abuse that might be handed out in public or in private, while other people turn away, because of the same rules that don't allow them to speak up for someone else. Edit: Edited, I've seen some random attacks on this site, but there are definitely quite a few with proof.Edit 2: Maybe I'm playing with fire the way I worded my post, but I'd rather stand up for what I believe is just than hide away pretending to be someone I'm not. buddah
You know I could care less what you say about me, but casting aspersions on the integrity of the site's owner is more than just a little crass. Now that is another matter entirely. Locking this now. Buddah
