Error when exiting Oblivion

Other people seem to have worse problems than this, but it's becoming annoying.

 

My computer (very fortunately) has not suffered a CTW since I got the game.

However, whenever I exit the game it takes forever for it to get to the windows screen.

Not only that, more than 50% of the time an error message shows up saying Oblivion has experienced a problem.

When I play Oblivion again my graphics options have changed (usually the change is somewhat random).

 

Does anyone know what could be causing this?

Many people have the same issue, me too! Many posts about this around here.. if you read some posts by Vagrant0 this would be related to a bad memory management of the game. So, if you're running many mods, you have either to disable them, running Oblivion as Bethesda did it, or you have to live with those CTW. No working solutions.. I'm afraid!

Somehow I knew that would be the answer.

Guess I should have looked around the forums before asking.

You have streamline installed? if you do thats what causes your graphics settings to muck up. it sets it certain guidelines for your system.

No, I don't have streamline installed.

 

It's not really a major issue, since crashing only happens when I exit.

And the settings don't change unless it crashes while exiting.

 

To be honest, I can live with this small inconvenience.

I've seen quite a few issues on these boards which are much worse.
