Goffender
I searched and didn't find this topic any where. This is not the how to make mine work. It's the whats the true minimum card I need to run CK. My main interest is at this point is exterior spaces, landscaping and navmesh. I like to load 9 cells at a time. Cpu is i7 4770, 16gb 1600 ddr3. Currently running 2 760 gtx so basically 1 760 with 4 gb. Looking at 1060 with 6 gb but maybe should go ahead a get 1070. 1080 would be sweet but still only has 8gb 256 bit memory. SMB92
Well I am running a 980ti, without custom textures loaded this card does ok up to about 13 grids. However get as much RAM as possible, I setup a 16GB page file but I will be purchasing 32 or 64gb in near future to better deal with precalc generation. I would recommend 970 and above
MissingMeshTV
Personally, I'd recommend going with the 1070 if possible. I've had one for a while now and find it was a very worthwhile investment not for just CK work, but everything in general including gaming and the video production I do. That being said, a new graphics card alone isn't going to make the CK run like butter. You might also want to invest in adding some RAM. The CK is resource hog. The more RAM you can have available for it, the better your performance will be. Some people may disagree but I see 16GB the bare minimum of RAM for CK work or any sort of 3D/graphics/video work. If you can afford upping to at least 32GB you should. Your overall computing experience will greatly improve as well as CK performance. I have 48GB in my rig. That lets the CK hum along without eating all my memory resources with plenty left over for other applications and processes. The CK never chokes, stutters or stalls. Again, some people think 16GB is fine and you can "get by" with it for the CK, but I strongly disagree. More RAM is always better and your machine will love you for it. MissingMeshTV
I have a quad-core i6700 in my main rig. My test machines are a laptop with a 4000-series i7 and a tower with a six-core Xeon...am at work and can't recall the exact specs. Both of those macines have 24GB RAM. But all my mod making and CK work is done on the main machine with the i6700 described in my previous post. As to the DDR3 question, if your mobo supports DDR4 it might be worth going that route but I'll admit I'm no RAM spec expert. If you're restricted to using DDR3 in your hardware, I'd have to think that any upgrade beyond your current 16GB would show noticeable performance boosts in general.
