What's the deal with the top step in Breezehome?

This is just something that has always bothered me and a search didn't show much about it. Why do I always catch, stumble, trip or whatever you want to call it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the house in Megaton (FO3) do this too? What possible reason is there for this? Another Bethesda irritation?

used this mod because it was annoying Lydia.

Breezehome ladder fix v1.1 by SIVA INU

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9659

now if we don't slam the brakes on running up the ladder/stairs we'll crash into the dresser and knock over the bowl.

i'll try to defer from voicing much of an opinion as to why the Breezehome Bethesda developers left it like that.

good old fashioned Nordic craftsmanship? "I am sworn to carry your burdens and trip on the top stair step.."

there seems to be many unseen grid/mesh issues in the Skyrim world/interiors/dungeons, constantly need to check if Lydia is indeed following me

because of these hangups; oh well, glad she's scripted not to get too pissed when i'm forced to gently use Unrelenting Force.

kinda freaks me out doing that to her.

also, suggest these mods for Breezehome+Lydia shadow/lighting and other annoyances:

Shadow Striping Fix v1.3.1 by Miral: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=8043

Lydia Loop Fix v1_1 by Dokkalfr: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9687

Followers can Relax v2 by King Coin: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9504

(might need to keep an eye on your follower if they get fixated and wander off..)

Dovahkiin Hideout v0.7 by Shawk: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=6032

yup, i'm also curious about this brezeehome ladder, perhaps anyone can really clarify what is exactly the problem ?

i've checked the house with CK to look of that ladder, thought it just matter of bad navmesh, but everything looks right to me, or because the ladder collision thing ?

and does anyone have an idea to prevent lydia kept wandering in the player room ? the only idea i can get is removing navmesh in the player room (can it work ?).

particular reason for my questions is because, i've made my own plugin to expand brezeehome (a bit) so i wanted to add those fix as well (which will not go along with other mods that altered brezeehome).

@ xlcr,

Thanks so much for the links! Already had the striping fix but the one to fix Lydia's loop is very much appreciated! Dovahkiin Hideout just seems like too much for me for now (finishing 1st playthru). But...

@ alsoran

The library mod looks like something I might really like. I'll check it out. Kudo's to you both.

All this brings up a good point for me... Is there a better way to sort the mods list? I usually look at the top 100 endorsed but I wish it would continue past 100. Doesn't the FO3 Nexus list all mods clear down to the ones with 0 endorsements, and then sorted by date of upload? Wish it did it that way here. I feel I'm missing some good ones with fewer endorsements. I don't like the filter the way it is (looking in each category). Am I missing a better way to search?

hi SgtR, yeah, Dovahkiin Hideout is a bit too rambling but everything's there plus more, looks like Shawk the modder is having a lot of fun with it.

don't really spend much time in it and haven't tried the included quest or teleport doors yet.

Dark0ne (our friend the great Nexus founder) has a lot to say in the 32 minute recent (Feb21) video 'State of the Union' regarding upcoming plans for enhancing the nexusmods experience:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/index.php

He is aware of categorization/top100/content filter shortcomings and has ongoing improvement projects; in the meantime,

multiple searches is what i do if looking for something specific and revisits to a fav modder's page for news every bluemoon.

i keep a little txt copy of the address/description with the mod files to keep track of all things modded for skyrim.

@ebony_ivory, I was using an early version and checked the modder's 'Breezehome ladder fix by SIVA INU' page again,

it has since been updated and includes a fix for the Riften Honeyside home ladder also lol.

He did not exactly specify what/how he fixed things anywhere in the page or comments section that i saw.

Must be somekind of grid/mesh issue with an unfixed ladder template bethesda dev's are still using from Megaton FO3 for Skyrim lol.

You could try tearing apart the ESP and see what it does, Siva noted his english was not great..

for Lydia's/follower AI, i am happy with 'Followers can Relax v2 by King Coin', this mod get's Lydia out of the Breezehome bedroom and free to interact with the environment.

If you use this mod, just be sure to keep an eye on where she wanders off to outdoors (she'll stay indoors), usually gravitates toward nearby crafting/forging/finding places to sit/munch lol.
