Caltrix Posted July 23, 2017 Share Posted July 23, 2017 (edited) So I recently decided I would try my hand at modding, and started with creating a sword. I followed TheMalfazar's Complete Tutorial and have the weapon in game and functional, the only issue is that the object is completely black. I did a fresh install before following this tutorial and have tried looking around for solutions, I also turned off each texture and then reapplied them but this made no difference. The only thing I can think of that went differently is that in NifSkope he said to increase the num UV sets to 4097, mine is grayed out and I was only able to change BS num UV sets, I don't know if that's of any significance. I did originally receive an error that said: "NifSkope needs vertices, normals, texture coordinates and faces to calculate tangents and bitangents" when I tried to update all tangent spaces, though when closing the program and retrying I didn't receive any errors.I modeled with Maya 2017I created the maps in Mudbox 2017 and saved them as 8-bit TIFFSI used Paint.net to save them as DDS files I'd appreciate any ideas people have, thanks. EDIT: after doing some more searching I read in another post that every version of NifSkope past 1.1.0 RC 6 doesn't work with obj formats, I'll leave this here in case any other beginners fall into this.
