Volix
It is customary for me to check the comments of a mod before downloading it. Often, when I do, I see some truly entitled posts. It makes me angry--not only because it makes the consumers as a whole look bad, but I can only imagine how much it chips away at one's desire to continue creating content. Many just seem to get tired of it and stop, understandably. So thank you. Thank you for the wonderful mods that makes these games special, and thank you for putting up with the more rotten apples out of the bunch while doing so. itsbooby
Often times I get upset when mod authors don't post a description for their mod and expect us to just install it and then find out what it does... I get upset when a mod has requirements yet they aren't listed and people's games CTD because of this... Of course I get furious when someone releases a mod that hasn't even been tested and then breaks my game... I get pretty bummed out when one of my favorite simple mods (that never required DLC) gets "updated" and then its only version requires all DLC... But yeah other than these things I mentioned, we all try and respect everyone here. Sometimes people get upset, people get heated, experienced modders lose patience, and newbie modders get frustrated / confused. It's bound to happen, but it's how we go about communicating and solving the problems that really matters. It's bound to happen, but it's how we go about communicating and solving the problems that really matters. I have to say this goes both ways. I don't get paid, maybe had like 3 donations in my lifetime. My design approach is simple, if it doesn't need to have all DLC - then start with vanilla and add DLC components later. I do my best to finish a mod before moving onto the DLC. Sure you could make it modular and you could make it modular or you could make it all-in-one. But when I consider the amount of my time that can get lost in the consideration of others for no return its not worth maintaining 2+ files over one. I get the frustration you may feel as someone who values the product, but no guarantees are given. Plenty of people reporting bugs on my mods are seeing things I havent heard of in an entire year. Typically the issue is conflicts and its near impossible to know what will conflict with what. Anyone can make a mod, doesn't mean they did a good, "clean" job. Then people expect me to troubleshoot it with them when their game stops working and may even get mad if not answered. I just don't care anymore, its too common. What really gets me is people who just download mods with questionable quality and never get rid of them - or they dont really test it. Semi unrelated but important to say -- If you want to keep your game as pure as possible, my advice is this: download mods with a clear scope of design in mind. Mods that have a specific focus will edit tiny portions of your game tailoring it to your wishes while remaining a low risk for conflicts. To OP, TBH I was pretty much done cause IMO this community has been kinda toxic. Creation Club brought me back for the time being. I want to make better quality content on the side because I enjoy it, but I don't enjoy investing the time needed to do the bigger ideas with no return. It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Hopefully for the best provided they dont charge too much. Disclaimer: I don't speak for other modders. Giving my viewpoint.
