WoogieMonster
About 98% of the time (yes I made up that stat), if your game crashes immediately, it means that the system you are trying to run it on does not meet the games requirements. When you click the games start icon and the menu appears, click on "Options" and look at the bottom of the menu. You should see "Video Quality Presets" and a list of settings. Click the lowest setting and then confirm and exit the menu. Try starting the game again: if it starts, it's going to look horrible, but play for a while to check the frame rate and see how stable it is. Then increase the settings just a little at a time until you get as high as your can without maxing out your laptop. Each time you increase a setting, play for a while to ensure the game is still stable. Also, once (or rather if) the game boots up, change the settings from the option at the games main title screen. It is much more precise than the other menu. If lowering the settings does not work, your laptop may just be too underpowered. What are the specs on it? (video card, CPU, RAM)
Ein001
Well I'll try your suggestion, if that does not work I'll check my computer and see what specs it has. Then I'll post them.
Tamujiin
It probably wont work on your laptop, As laptops mostly even today have a maximum 2gb ram and most laptop Vidcards arent compatible with what oblivion demands. Although i might be incorrect..............as woogie asked please post your specs. go to start menu, click on run and type in dxdiag, that will create a document, ( most likely in your documents folder ) it will tell us all the specs of your laptop, with no personal information involved. bben46
Did it ever work on the laptop? if not then the laptop probably is not powerful enough to run it. The published specs for Oblivion are very misleading. The specs were probably fudged by the marketing people. If ANY single spec is too low it probably won't work. And even if some of the specs are borderline you may have problems. On most laptops there is no real Video RAM so the video must share with the system RAM which can cause problems. published specs - 512m System Ram and 128m Video ram. May run with everything at its lowest setting. But I wouldn't bet on it. Also, some laptop video systems are not supported at all.
