Search nexus mods bug

From my experience using the site's search function for mods, it seems to work based on matching the words you're searching for against the names of the mods in the database. So for instance, if you search for the word 'Graphic', it would bring back a list of mods which have the word 'Graphic' in their name. This would explain why your example doesn't give you a result on the Nexus, as where OBGE's core files are under the name 'Oblivion Graphics Extender' in the database, using OBGE for your search word would not bring it back as one of your results.

Google can find words that are close to what you are looking for, or that mean the same thing, or are misspelled, or even make a pretty good guess as to what you really want. But that is what Google does - search. Unlike Google, Nexus doesn't have a full time staff of programmers trying to find the best way to find what you are searching for using secret algorithms. We are stuck with whatever the search software implementation that came with the original forum used. With a few custom changes by Dark0ne. :thumbsup:

However, The Nexus does do better at providing FREE mods than Google. Again, that is not Google's focus either.

TL:DR

Google = search

Nexus = mods :tongue:

-Opensuse- forums has a great search engine, uses php i think.. You might want to into it. Does your search it make use of tags? It's misleading to say 'search'. It should be 'title search'.

Thanks for the info. I'll just google instead.

PS, I'v done many college courses, including advanced datastructures.

So, having done "many courses", you know to read the documentation for a complicated system.

Yet your statement indicates that you haven't used the "Advanced Search" function here, or you would know that "title search" is simply the default:
