Custom Follower

Hi everyone just started using the CK to create a werewolf follower with the usual follower options (follow,wait etc) but cannot get them to appear in the dialog box.

 

I made a custom werewolf race and he actually does follow me in-game if i try to speak with him and he fights everything seems fine just i can get those commands to show up.

I've tried adding the scripts, editing the "DialogFollower" quest but nothing has worked maybe I'm missing something?

 

This is a WIP of mine to have a fully interactive werewolf companion, voiced with quests and custom textures and all that good stuff but i'm stumped on the first hurdle.

Any help is appreciated

I was trying to figure out how to add dialogue earlier, and all I can say is that it seems so complicated...

 

How exactly are you setting up your dialogue? The DialogueFollower quest has all the various commands split up into different dialogue branches. Did you do the same thing?

 

I kept all my dialogue in the same branch and it took me forever to figure out what was wrong with what I was doing. If that's what you did too, I found out that the problem was that the "starting topic" of the dialogue branch is always going to come up. The starting topic is the dialogue option you choose in order to enter that dialogue branch. So if there are conditions for that starting topic that are no longer true, then none of the other topics in that branch are available.

 

I was messing around with making my own companion too. The starting topic for me was recruiting the companion. Obviously, once the companion was recruited, I didn't want to see the recruiting topic again so I had set conditions that it should only be available when the companion is not with the player. I'd thought that my follow and stay topics would show up since the conditions were that the companion has been recruited. It didn't work that way.

 

In the end, I had to change the starting topic to something like "So..." with no conditions, and all the other topics (recruit, follow, wait, etc) as choices that are linked from the starting topic.

Well i sorted the problem of not getting the dialog to show.

I had picked a voice type that did not use the "FollowerDialog" quests remarks so it would not work!

 

@fg109 i tried to add my custom race and voice type to the "FollowerQuest" remarks but had no luck not sure on how to get this working with custom voices etc so i have had to keep it simple for now and just use a basic male nord voice.

If you figure out how to add the custom voice please let me know.

 

My follower now has all of the right dialog and does what he is supposed to do all but the dismiss command, he stops following returns to the location i gave him but cannot be talked to or recruited again any ideas?

 

Will be uploading this follower in the next few hours just as a basic werewolf follower for now while i start on his new textures, armor etc.
