KeldorKatarn
Hello. This is not supposed to be a mod request, unless someone is really in the mood to do it. I am thinking about looking into Witcher 3 modding and giving this a try at some point. I'm a developer myself so as long as the toolset is good enough I think I should be able to do it. The purpose of this thread is more of an inquiry to all people who have more experience with modding the Witcher 3. The original lore from the books indicates that the steel sword is not meant against humans, that's just the stereotype. Instead witchers carry two swords because some creatures like cursed ones or magical beings and ghosts are vulnerable to silver, while others are not and instead are vulnerable to steel or have such a hard skin that steel is needed to cut through where the softer silver coated blade might fail. So the question is... how difficult would it be to mod something like this? I think it would make all the steel blades in the game a bit more useful and interesting and also make monster fighting a bit more varied. Not to mention the silver blade wouldn't be used up that much and oils could be spread out easier. So the necessary steps seem to be: Change the type of healthbar on certain enemy types from silver to red/steel.Change certain oils to be used only on the other type of swordMAYBE change some stats of steel swords to make more sense for monster fighting maybe Does anybody see anything that speaks against this being possible, too much work, or breaking anything in the game? (no spoilers here please I haven't finished the game yet) I don't know when I'd have the time to do this, I just would like to know in advance if it's a waste of time because someone already tried and ran into major problems that speak against this being possible. So thanks for any feedback people can give here. PS Silver would remain effective against necrophages, therianthropes like werefolves and berserkers, cursed ones, shapeshifters, wraiths and vampires. So pretty much any magical or cursed being and spirits.Steel would become the new standard for non-magical monsters with hard skin like insectoids and draconids. I'm not sure about relics and ogroids. But since shapershifters like the doppler are classified as relicts, I guess relicts are vulnerable to silver. But Ogroids might be another option for steel vulnerability. Like Insectoids and Draconids they usually have very thick skin. I cannot imagine banging against the skin of a rock troll is very good for a silver edge ;)
ugibre
I'd love to see this. It's a pet peeve that I have since the 1st game. Just one clarification. Aren't ghosts, hence wraiths, usually associated with weakness to iron?
