SummonerBeingOfChaos
I've had realistic lighting for awhile and got Sounds of Skyrim: Dungeons. Getting the horn for the Greybeards now and it's my first time entering a dungeon sense the mod. Even though this is my third time through it, the atmosphere is awesome; I actually freak out when I hear something roar behind me. I'm not too scared though -- and it got me thinking about Amnesia... For those who heard of/played it then you may see where I'm going with this. I'll leave back-story and such to the creator. For the most part, character wakes up in a dungeon. Everything in his or her inventory has been removed. Any followers leave his or her service. Also, something is keeping the player at 0 mana. Lying nearby would be some clothes in case the player did not want to run through naked or in rags. So at this point, all the hero has going for them is the Thu'um. Periodically there will be removable torches for the player to use for light. Enemies within should be leveled with the player -- maybe to be high above his/her own. If the creator can do the reverse of what happens in Nocturnal's place with the light and shadows, but at a slower rate, that would be awesome. Not sure if it would be possible to have the effect canceld when there's light in the same area. Basically instead of the sanity drain in Amnesia you drain health, or stamina if the creator wishes, but I think health would give the player better incentive to have light. Another thing that I'm not sure if possible is the randomizing of enemy locations between saves, as well as enemies spawning randomly like in the outdoors. So if the player died, they won't know what is going to happen this time around, and just because they cleared an area doesn't mean when they come back there aren't new enemies. I imagine the way out being locked and requiring a key, so perhaps they key's location could also change. Maybe between several areas that are no where close to each other. I don't know how scary the dungeon would be in the vanilla version, but with the other two it should hopefully be terrifying. The enemies don't have to be undead. The dungeon doesn't have to be a crypt or cave. Leaving all that to the creator. I know it's a big project, but it just seems too awesome to pass up. I've read a lot of people don't like how easy/simple some other dungeon mods are. Maybe this will give them the challenge they need? The mana drain thing would also have to take into account mana replenishing skills like High Born. If anyone else has an idea to add, feel free. I can't say that whoever takes up the project will include it, but you never know! Edited February 28, 2012 by SummonerBeingOfChaos
TheMysteriousTraveler
Not a bad idea man! Maybe the dungeon could be dark, and have shadows, and silhouetted enemies try to kill you. Idk.
SummonerBeingOfChaos
Yeah, I was going for something really dark. If you have realistic lighting you have to have a light source in general -- if it was made super dark in vanilla I wonder how dark that'd be with the lighting mod. As for the enemies, you mean re-colored ones so that they blend in or custom-made enemies? Can the ck make new enemies? Maybe there could be moments like in House of Horror where stuff acts possessed and the rooms/halls quake.
TheMysteriousTraveler
The reason why i was thinking about the enemies being silhouetted is so they could blend in with the shadows. I'm pretty sure the CK can make new enemies. The possessed rooms do sound kinda cool. Your walking through a room, then a chair... stalk you or something :P I remember back with oblivion you could make a room REALLY dark and cast shadows in certain corners etc. Dunno if you can do that with skyrim though btw who voted that penguins are purple ninjas? lol Edited February 29, 2012 by TheMysteriousTraveler
SummonerBeingOfChaos
I was thinking more along the lines of a chair is thrown in your face XD As for the penguin, I did. Don't think anyone else will. OMG -- if whatever style map is chosen by the creator allows for a mannequin ... yeah, have one of those stalking you. Hmm... the enemies may be armed. Should we allow the player to loot weapons and/or armor from any enemies if they defeat one? Because the one-handed skill affects unarmed combat, right? And Khajiit may feel safer with their claws and night-eye. The reason for taking away weapons and armor is obvious, but why wouldn't the player taken an enemy's weapons and armor? Is there a way to make that stuff like the Ancient Nord Armor -- unlootable? Be great to put a story-line with quests to this... Sense this mod idea was inspired by Amnesia, if there was a random npc named Daniel. I know you never saw his face, but I'm sure people will get the reference. Unless that breaks any rules. Wouldn't mind actual puzzles either... This is starting to seem really big, I don't know if anyone will take the time for it )=

As for daniel, i don't get the reference... If i had a bit more modding skills, i could do this for you. Would love to help write the script for it... SummonerBeingOfChaos
Same here, I'm learning to program, but am I'm bit hesitant at trying to mod. Also, Daniel was the main character from Amnesia. He was given a voice, but not a face. For some reason i can also picture the Night Mother -- or at least her mesh -- being there too. TheMysteriousTraveler
Interesting... by the way, about the whole being left only with thu'um thing... Would we be aloud to keep our spells too? Because i wouldn't mind casting Lightning Storm on a couple shadow creatures :DDD and looks like someone agreed with you that penguins are purple ninjas from space xD
