I completely disagree. Thalmor must be destroyed by the elves themselves in a revolution otherwise we would encourage a race war - like the Great war

They cannot destroy the altmer (as one thalmor say in the game) they have an alleance with the bosmer (wood elf) and the dumner are to low for make anything, and in the past the elves had just make damage on Nirn

Sorry for my english :(

No props - but they are not allied to the Bosmer, they annexed them :)

What I can't, for the life of me understand is the severe decline of the arcane arts in only about 200 years time since Oblivion. Yes I know the whole back story about the destruction of the Arcane Academy thing, but the elves were the most gifted in arcane arts and the in game (Skyrim) reference of Calcelmo himself of devoting 2 lifetimes of men in his own persuit of knowledge of the Dwemer. That at worst would seem to me only 1.5 to maybe 2 generations of elves, worst case. And then I can also remember the High Elf woman in the Cheydinhal Mages Guild hall that was Ondmund's sweetie saying all the time about choosing the right partner for Elves was so important because of their severely long lifespan. Come on Beth. you did kinda drop the ball on that one...

Edit: Sorry I got carried away, yes I miss the welkend and varla stones too.

well i do miss the stones but we got better things. we lost some goblins and got the falmer, we lost some undead (thanks god) and got robots! and great cities which feel like city not just some ruins designed to kill my character

The goblins were more developed though. They had different tribes, with their own totem each, and could fight wars between them if the player switched their totems. And that was vanilla stuff, not even counting what OOO did.

Now most of living things are either "trapped" in the exterior cells or "trapped" in the interior cells. Its probably a consequence of Bethesda's tighter grip on dungeons in Skyrim. Each dungeon is its own ecosystem, for the better or the worse.

I would the think the "heartland elves" and the "snow elves" would have had to co exist. It would seem they existed in the same time era. I would almost think they were the same elves, just different names. Same race it just moved north and "adapted" a bit. not to mention the lore is very old, you can't always accurately translate old dead languages. You never know. Hope you all understand what I am saying I feel I am explaining this poorly.

OH but I do feel the new ruins suck compared to ayleid ruins...I really liked them...

not sure where i stand on the whole Ayleid ruins Vs. Skyrim ruins Vs Morrowind issue. i did like the feel of the rundown ayleid structures. (the thing you have to remember, most of the old ayleid ruins have collapsed leaving only the reinforced structures, such as temples, meeting halls, etc.) with that in mind the ayleid cities seem more than passable as they are, IMHO. however, skyrim's ruins seem to be more well developed, and a bit more lethal (some of those traps are just plain mean)... if i wasn't so aware of my surroundings i bet it's quite likely i'd have died a lot more times than i actually did.

i guess i'll copout by going with morrowind here. that game had some kicking ruins. lol

so i guess i really wouldn't want ayleids in skyrim, snow elves is a different story altogether...and i don't think the ayleids are the same as the snow elves either, just look at what little lore we have on the two races, it's not much; however it doesn't fit together that well in that fashion. (or twas it a jest?)

Thats explained in the lore. Lots of elves left Summerset and inhabited mainland Tamriel, going to almost every corner, thats how bosmer, chimer, falmer and ayleid developed. They're all in fact, descendants of the first elven inhabitants of the Summerstet isles. Before that point its hard to tell. Part of the lore say that the first elves came from Aldmeris, also called Old Ehlnofey, the other part says that Aldmeris never existed and was some sort of collective memory of the elven race, remains of the timeless Dawn era.
