Public domain.

If there is something i hate it is to find a potential good mod that has been abandoned and has glaring issues that could be fixed with minimal effort.

I also hate fixing those problems and only have myself to share it with.

And finally , who needs yet another update.esp in their load order?, not me for one.

That made me think of a few things:

1. Some mod authors upload their files with a "do what you want with it" attitude, would it be possible to add a tag for those files on the nexus side of things?

2. It sure would be nice if there was a grace period for fair use, or a public domain equivalent for mods . ( This is not about stealing your mods, it is about resurrecting those nobody seems to care about.)

3. If you uploadet your mod within the first 2 months of release there is a pretty good chance you have a lot of downloads and endorsements, even though your mod is unusable in its current state. That seems unfair. There is also a really good chance that anybody uploading anything similar in the future, will be accused of asset thefts and being unoriginal, or simply just fade into oblivion. I see no solution to this, but again, at least having functioning files in the top 100 would be nice, especially if they come with thousands of endorsements and downloads. A public domain, only extending to nexus of cause, could be a solution to those dead files.

So let's say that you haven't updated or "checked a box" in 18 months, now the file becomes free for whoever to manipulate and re-upload on nexus, in a new category created for those files, maybe only available through a link from the original mod page. With all the appropriate props, links and thanks given, and the clause that there will be no monetary gain, of cause.

I know some of you have grandiose plans of becoming Bethesda millionaires, and i won't stand in the way of that. But after all, you made those files using tools other people had put in place for you, and most likely for free. I am also not sure some of you are ready for what it entails to have a legit business ,and that is what you have if you should choose to go into bed with Beth and monetize your mods on all platforms. Let's just say that the "customer service" is lacking on your part. If you think the bug reports and frivolous complaint are bad now, just you wait until your "costumers" have money involved and there is a Beth employee pulling the strings.

That is it.
