hog219 Posted May 17, 2008 Share Posted May 17, 2008 i recently did the quest on the shivering isles where I had to go to xedilian and put the crystals up. after i finished this, it let me play a "game" where i chose the fate of some adventurers... i had great fun doing that, and then killed the "knights of order", this sent me on more quests and stuff..... is it possible to use xedilian again? i mean, i've talked to the kelban dude who runs the place, but he doesnt say anything about repeating it. and since it said "it attracts adventuerers" then wouldnt more arrive? I don't think so, no. It's kind of like a "One Time Use" thing for the PC. I'm sure when he says it attracts more adventurers, it's probably for story/lore reasons. Threevil Posted May 17, 2008 Share Posted May 17, 2008 Isn't possible, unless you load an earlier save (not like that's really "doing it again", you could do that with anything).This is because it's an actual quest, and Oblivion's quests tend to lack open-endedness and replayability. But someone would be able to make a mod that re-enables Xedillian... as there's no direct interaction with the adventurers attracted to the dungeon, the ever-present issue of providing voice acting could be bypassed, and it doesn't look making such a mod would take an immense amount of scripting or construction (one could, for example, duplicate the Xedillian entry level and just use that one after the initial quest was complete, to bypass conflicts). I think it would be entirely possible. However, if I were playing such a mod, I'd feel Xedillian get old rather quickly - you can exhaust all of the dungeon's resources in two runs, after all. In my opinion, if a mod that re-enabled Xedillian was to be made, and was to be of any real quality, one would have to increase the number of possibilities open to the player. Perhaps an "Origin Of The Mages Guild"-esque addition to the Shivering Isles quest line is in order. I'd certainly welcome one. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Vagrant0 Posted May 19, 2008 Share Posted May 19, 2008 The whole thing would technically need to be rebuilt since most of the scripts being used are 1 time things, and as mentioned, there really isn't much variety with the existing traps. Meaning that what you'd have to do is make an entirely new area, with new traps, and script new NPCs to go through it, while still allowing for things to remain interesting.
