Cthorthu
Hello! XP32 Maximus Skeleton (and XP32 Maximus Skeleton Special Extended...) are described like a tool to "allow animators to animate all independantly and simultaneously" and "allows users to never have to worry about animation incompatibilty based on skeletons". But, what exactly does this mean? What does this skeleton do? Thanks!!
Kroekr
From what I understand, the skeleton adds more 'bones' or 'joints' to allow an animation to work and look more realistic (depending on the animation). Since I am a simple individual, this is a simple answer. Someone that knows more may offer a more detailed explanation.
fore
It's not much more to it than what Kroekr has said. Maybe also that it adds the ability to use HDT. The text you mention today is more misleading then helpful. It stems from the early days of Skyrim, when all kind of modders tried to make new skeletons with new bones. So xp32's MS collected all those requests and increased the number of bones from 99 to 242. Which added an enourmous load on our PCs. Today groovtama has taken over, and he has reduced the number of bones back to normal values. 115 for HDT, and 129 for the more animation controlled jiggles. And he calls it XPMSE. Although I think he should have used his initials for all the credits.
