MarshallBF
Hello,I might have to migrate my system to a new harddrive and since I cannot clone it (MBR/GPT problems) I would like ask you guys how to proceed in migrating my Skyrim installation in tact. The Skyrim itself is obviously not a problem - I would just reinstall it, but the mods are - I have more than 60 and It took me quite a while to tune it so I don't have any crashes. *Windows 7 64bit*Steam (Skyrim in default folder)*The PC will be the same, just different HDD and fresh windows 7 installation.*All mods (except one I made) are installed through NMM. I have been unable to google this, but if there is some tutorial how to do this I apologise, my searching mojo might be weak :)Otherwise I will be grateful for any advice.Thank you! saurusmaximus
There are a couple ways you can do this.Option1: Make a copy of the contents of your current Skyrim/Data folder. Then make a copy of your NMM Mods Folder and Install Folder (click the folder icon in NMM to get to those locations)Export your current load order using the icon on the left side of the Plugins ScreenInstall Skyrim on your new HDD.Install NMM on your new HDD.Paste your copied Data folder, Mods folder and Install folder into their respective locations.Import your load order back into NMM.I don't recommend this method because it introduces too many variables into the equation (i.e.; ways to screw things up). Option2: Make a copy of your NMM Mods folder and paste it somewhere on your new HDD. In case you don't know, this contains all of the mods you have used NMM to install. When you download a mod off of the Nexus, this is where that file actually goes. Incidentally, you will have to make a copy of that mod you created yourself (unless you compressed it into an archive and installed it that way).Export your load orderInstall Skyrim and NMM on your new HDDUsing the old NMM Mods folder, manually reinstall all of your mods. Import your old load orderObviously, this method takes a little longer, but it is much more foolproof. With only 60 mods, it really shouldn't take you that long to do. Good luck! I have done option 2 and it worked flawlessly :) 5 hours of gameplay no crash or problem :)
