emjay144
So I was asking for hardware upgrade advice in the general forum, and after getting a couple of responses I tried to mess around with playing SE on my current build to see what it could handle and ended up with a graphics problem. I turned the game resolution up to 1440p but had my fps capped at 30. I was pretty sure my system could handle more, so I disabled vsync in Skyrimprefs.ini. That got me to 60fps but I was getting terrible screen tearing. This is without running any mods or ENB. My system:Windows 10 64Intel core i5-4690Gtx 97016gb ram I'm playing on a new 4k tv (Sony) connected via HDMI and I'm wondering if that's the problem? The HDMI cable is verified for high speed, and I can play on 1080p at 60fps with no problems. The TV should support 1440p at 60hz, so I'm really not sure why the vsync is throttling the fps. UPDATE: For giggles, I went into my Geforce experience and just went with the "optimized" settings for SE. Weirdly, it bumped up the resolution, turned down some other settings, and all of a sudden I was getting 60fps. There must be something weird with the 1440p resolution.
