Possible Mod Idea...

Alright, I am sure there have been requests for this type of mod before, but I am going to give it a shot anyway. I don't know about the rest of you, and maybe I havent looked hard enough. But I have yet to find an RPG, set in a pretty impressive time period of Feudel Japan. I don't know if there isn't alot of interest in it or what, I guess with this thread we will find out! :) OK, on the the basics:

The background - Basically, I had some inspiration after doing a project for my ENGL 101 class. I did it on the ways of the Samurai and their lives. Needless to say I loved every bit of it, and being an avid anime fan didn't help the fact that I now had a need for some kind of game to let me be a kick ass kung-fu master or a swordsman that can cleave a man in two with one mighty strike. So here it is, the idea, I wan't to create an addon to the Morrowind mainland, kind of like they did with Bloodmoon. But instead of it being full of snow and werewolves, it will be filled with Dojo's and Temples and tons of good fun stuff. Heres some specifics if it helps:

1. 3 New Classes - Samurai, Ninja, Imperial Guardian(this last one I am still working out some specifics on, I have all of this on paper, like a binder full of the crap lol.)

2. New Landmass - Around 50-60 cells (also something im working on still, might be abit too much at 50-60)

3. New Models/textures - Of course with a new culture, arises the need for new models and textures. Specifically:: (a)New weapons, Wakizashi, Katana, Naginata, etc... (b)Housing, I have seen the Japanese house mod and that is about perfect as an example of what I will be needing to have done.

4. New Armor Meshes/Textures - Don't know if making alot of new armor is really worth the amount of effort it will require, but then again I am NOT an amazing modeler ^.^ Texture work will probably be the best choice for this. The kind of armor needed will of course be the samurai Yoroi, or their armor. That one I think will require some actual model modification. Otherwise the rest can probly just be taken and recolored.

5. Story - Basically I have laid out two choices for a story. One, depends on the class you chose. The other is generic. It's pretty long and involved for either choice so I will leave that out of this description, but know, it is in my opinion a VERY good long quest/story.

Ok I HOPE that is enough imformation for now. At the moment I am really looking for feedback on some of the descriptions I have. Possible? Not Possible? Not worth the time? Does the idea of this kind of rpg mod appeal to you?

IF you are interested in this mod and would like to help. I need assistance with Texturing and Modelling. Specifically(See I read the rules of posting! :D ) The armor and weapons, and more than likely the housing, that one I am going to try and attempt to learn so I am not just asking for people to do all my work for me. As it stands now I can pretty much do all of the exterior work and class system/skills/quests/item stats/dialogue and so forth but I would welcome ANY help at all on any of these fronts. So if you are interested my email :[email protected] just drop me a line and tell me what part you would be willing to help with.

Alrighty, I guess that's it for now. Thanks for reading!!

(Please ask any questions about details I left out:) )

Ah - Make7-san

I too have always been fascinated with the period and culture since I watched The Seven Samurai for the first time with my dad when I was little (I won't say when that was, but it was on a black-and-white state-of-the-art TV).

My scripting and design skills are practically nil, but I can write quests and books.

Let me know if I can help you in any way along those lines. I have several other projects going, but depending on what you need, I may be able to help you quite a bit.

Thanks.

(Also - look over at Lord Yig's site. He was the one who designed a lot of the stuff inside the Japanese house. I still go gaga over the inlaid chests and the detail work.)

Correction to above info :)

The amount of cells im gonna be using are WAY less than 50-60 ...

Im thinking more like 20-25, 50 is insane :) Especially for my first real mod attempt.

Still need some model help for japanese style housing and textures, thanks !

it sounds cool, I am working a japanese castle idea. i was going to build a city arround it and make another house. big dreams, i haven't even done a mod yet.

anyways, how serious are you abou this, because i'm wondering if i should keep going or not. i'd love to help.

i can model in gmax, but getting that stuff into .nif format is another story. i'll talk to pergerine about it.

also, i studied references and castle design theory, so if your interested in what i have so far, give me a buzz.

i have experience in webdesign, and scripting a various kinds, and programming so morrowind scripting would be fairly easy to pick up.

i already have plans for it drawn up and a set of quests outlined, and some ideas for models.

i dont care if you use my ideas or not, i'd still like to help. i can also do storyboarding, which might be usefull in preperation for crerating the models(especially if you want animations built into the models i.e. a kimono sleve waving). i know a little japanese and can get you alot of sources on it also. culture too.

well alot of the plants in morrowind have an oriental touch to them and maybe even the mournhold estates could be used as pagodas. i have also had this idea and i have so far used these items for fun and they turned out alrite. i have even placed a few steel dai-katanas and tantos on walls.

hope this sort of helps probably not but that is wut i've used without the trouble of making new meshes.
