Volkov127
... because I can't find an example of it anywhere else I search, and it's driving me a tad bit insane. I can't fix the problem if I can't even identify what the problem is. Here are two links to screenshots of the issue. You should be able to figure out whats up right away. The top third, more or less, of my screen is much darker than the rest, and that is how it's supposed to be shaded. This same effect still occurs even when I turn off the effect through the ENB UI, as you can see in the second screenshot on the red merchant's banner. Screenshot 1 (ENB effects on)Screenshot 2 (ENB effects off) Currently I'm using ELFX, however this same issues occurs with RCRN, RLO, and even when I have no shaders mod installed except for what's being given by the ENB. This also occurred both before and after a clean install I had to do because of another issue. It happens with every ENB - I was using Bleak before, now I have Rudy ENB, but I've gone through RealVision, Tranquility, Sarrum whatever. Even though I've fiddled with a good portion of the ENB settings as well, it still persists. Usually there are vertical lines on the unshaded part as well, but they disappear if I play around with some settings usually, though the odd half-shaded screen is still there, as you can see above. Now, it isn't a consistent issue. It usually happens in cities/towns or if you enter into an interior, especially with a fire like an inn, so it may somehow be related to NPCs - though it doesn't always happen either. Sometimes its fine, other times its not. Sometimes it'll happen out in the middle of nowhere, other times it's perfectly fine. Sometimes it'll happen when there is a tonne of NPCs around, sometimes when there are just two hanging out. If you look up into the sky, I might add, you can't see it at all, but I assume that's just because there are no shadows for it to deal with there. The only thing that fixes the issue is if I alt-tab out of the game and come back, or obviously if I qqq. For the record, I have an up-to-date GTX 1050 and I've gone through all the simple ini changes I could fine that might help, without success. And while it isn't the end of the world that this happens, it is super bloody annoying and takes you straight out of any gameplay you might be enjoying. TL;DR - does anyone know what the hell is going on here so I can fix it?? Thanks! Edited August 21, 2017 by Volkov127

Volkov127
It appears that you need to go to STEPWiki and verify that you have parallax properly enabled. That was a good suggestion, man, but not the cause of my problems. Parallax is working fine for me, even better after I switched to a more parallax-friendly texture pack(s) and did some other modifications. It still happens! The thing that gets me is the odd shape of the graphical oddity, with it stretching down farther on the left hand side and then jumping back up. That has never changed. After some further Google trawling I came across some issues people were having with overlays, such as what you might get from using Razor Cortex or having Nvidia's GeForce Experience program running - but I currently use neither, and I double check mid-game though Task Manager. Yet that pattern looks like one that might be caused by an overlay, doesn't it? Any one have ideas as to what it is?
pksky
Maybe you've got some UI mods that are causing the overlay effect? Or mods that have some graphics/status bars there but hidden? For example, if you have frostfall on, and every time you enter an interior and get warmer by the fire, there would be a status bar showing a change, but you've got it hidden by a UI mod? For example, if you have frostfall on, and every time you enter an interior and get warmer by the fire, there would be a status bar showing a change, but you've got it hidden by a UI mod? Another good guess, the problem is figuring out which mod might be doing it. I'm not currently using any mods I don't recall using before. If anyone knows possibly what mod might have an odd overly like that, I'd appreciate you letting me know! I'll throw up my mod list for anyone who has ideas. For now, I guess I'll just have to slowly go through the list, the fun part. The problem is happening now even though I'm using only a ReShade (SweetFX) preset with zero performance hits. It's like all of Skyrim's shaders, vanilla or otherwise, just stop working on part of the screen. The only time I don't seem to have this issue is when I turn all of the shaders off, for obvious reasons. It's really starting to bug me, because my game currently runs smoother than I can imagine it being with ~200 mods, without v-sync my frames even in the middle of daytime Whiterun run out of control. It's all a bit perplexing. 0 0 Skyrim.esm1 1 Update.esm2 2 Dawnguard.esm3 3 HearthFires.esm4 4 Dragonborn.esm5 5 Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch.esp6 6 BSAssets.esm7 7 BSHeartland.esm8 8 arnima.esm9 9 RSkyrimChildren.esm10 a BS_DLC_patch.esp11 b Campfire.esm12 c ClimatesOfTamriel.esm13 d CompanionArissa.esm14 e notice board.esp15 f Brawl Bugs CE.esp16 10 WetandCold.esp17 11 RealisticRoomRental.esp18 12 AOS.esp19 13 RevampedExteriorFog.esp20 14 AMatterOfTime.esp21 15 WetandCold - Volkov127
So just to update this, I did yet *another* clean reinstall and switched around some mods, iNeeds for RND, etc. Put on the ENB and for awhile I was playing without issue and then it happened again - except this time the solution was much easier and possibly I've narrowed this problem down somehow because of one mod change. So the weird glitch happened in third-person view after playing for several hours, and of course I cursed heavily and tabbed out, etc. Still there. I sort of just resolved to finish doing some little radiant quest and keyed back into first person - and the glitch was gone. Keyed out to third-person, gone. I was absolutely stunned as that had never occurred before. However there was one major change that affected this - I had gotten rid of the Immersive FPV mod I had been using for awhile, switched to an Enhanced Camera/Joy of Perspective mix. I don't know the technical details of IFPV but I believe it basically fakes first-person, technically you're still in third with it, just the camera and clips are all messed around with to look like you're playing in first-person. So all this time I had an easy solution at hand (easier than tabbing out at any rate) and didn't know it because of just one bloody mod! Now, I still don't know why the issue is happening but at least its manageable. If anyone ever figures it out, feel free to let me know, otherwise thanks for the help from psksy and Reynard. pksky
Well, that sounds like a strange one, but thanks for following up with your fix! Can you clarify, because it sounds like you still experience the issue but are solving it with keying in and out of 1st and 3rd person view, but it sounded like you said IFPV was causing the issue but you removed it? How does that work?
Volkov127
Well, that sounds like a strange one, but thanks for following up with your fix! Can you clarify, because it sounds like you still experience the issue but are solving it with keying in and out of 1st and 3rd person view, but it sounded like you said IFPV was causing the issue but you removed it? How does that work? I couldn't begin to tell you how it works. All I know is that when you're in or use vanilla 1st-person view, the issue does not crop up. Sometimes when I'm using 3rd-person view for combat or tfc for a screenshot, the problem happens again - switch back to 1st-person and its gone, even when you switch back to 3rd (until it breaks again anyway). The way the 'fix' worked I imagine is because Enhanced Camera actually uses the proper 1st-person view versus IFPV which sticks a node where your head should be in 3rd-person. Whatever the actual problem is I couldn't tell you, but its definitely related to 3rd-person - maybe the larger FOV messes with something in my graphics setup or... I have no idea, it happens for no other game, that's all I can confirm for sure!
