kaylithin
So this is the first time I've ever tried doing any kind of mod. Period. But I had a lot of quest ideas for Skyrim. I'd like to connect the dungeon I'm making to the world itself...simple enough, there are tutorials on how to do that. However, I'm not sure how to put the entrance to the dungeon at a specific location. See, I found a great spot in-game that I'd like to build on, but I don't know how to get the ID for the cell that it's in so I could look it up in the creation kit. Is there a console command that would give me this information?
PikaNikz
The CK deals with cells by name, not id, so you don't need to find the id. In the Cell View window change the World Space to Interiors for inside locations or Tamriel for most of the open world. Then find the location in the left list by clicking it and typing a few of the first letters in the name. Don't know the name of the place? First check the UESP for the code name of the location. Alternately if it's in the open world you can find a main location that is near it and open that. Using the top view and the middle mouse button, scroll to the location you want to build in and the Cell View window will automatically change to your location when you select an object there. Click on a tree or something. To link an interior with an exterior.Add a door to each location. Open one of the cells and double click the door. Enable the Teleport option and choose the Cell where your other door is. Set the Reference to be that other door. You do not have to set any of these options on the other door. It does that for you. What you do need to do now is adjust the location where the player appears when they go through the doors. You will see those as tall transparent yellow blocks. Move and rotate those as needed. Don't forget to do both of them. If you don't see them, press the M key to toggle markers. Edited March 1, 2012 by PikaNikz
kaylithin
Thanks so much! I'll try that. Yeah, the area I'm interested in is in the wilderness, so I wasn't sure how to handle that since most of the cell names I know are in towns, etc. But it is relatively near Morthal, so I'll just pan around there.
