Ebonmoon
So does anybody have a solution that we could try?
meh12345
I don't mean to sound condescending, I just never know what people's technical level and familiarity with something is, and your earlier reply was a little ambigous: did you do what I described *exactly* in those steps and sequence, without adding or removing anything? (Also resetai NPCs and ensure the Companions line isn't at a particular point)? If the way I explained doesn't work exactly reproduced, I'd like to know! Ebonmoon
No offense taken, just want to get this bug sorted out. I did exactly as you told in exactly the same steps, nothing removed or added. I did attempts with no mods at all, and many with mods, both on a new character and a character who had already started the quest. Had not started the Companions quests at all. I reset the quests (resetquest MQ104, then MQ103) as you had instructed, and did so between every attempt, as well as reloading the previous saves. Not sure what you mean by resetting the npc's though... how does one go about that? Also, when you stated go to the wizards room, did you mean before you had spoken to him, or just when the bug became apparent, when the informant and him are having a discussion? Or doesn't that really matter as long as one resets the quests? And thanks for the help by the way, really appreciate it.
Ebonmoon
Ok so I uninstalled all of my mods, started a new character, went through the entire process again and it finally worked :D This then cancels out the possibility that it was caused by the patch, but perhaps the new load order could've messed around with it...? Here are the mods I use usually: Skyrim.esmUpdate.esmJSwords.esmhideout.esmretreat.esmSMIM_Fixes.espSoS - The Dungeons.espSoS - The Wilds.espRealistic Lighting.espRealistic Lighting Patcher.espdragonsoulstoperks.esphqsnow.espAuto Unequip Arrows.espDaggerCraft.espDragonBoneWeaponsPack02.espDragonBoneWeaponsPack01_v01.00.espisilNarsil.espMagicka Sabers.espSmithing Perks Overhaul - Balanced.espWeapons and Armor Fixes.espWeapons and Armor Fixes - Hacks.espComplete Crafting Overhaul.espNote: will conflict with mods that modify existing recipesWiS IV - Dark Age.espDeadlyDragons.espBash Tag suggestion(s): {{BASH: Delev, Relev}}Dragon Falls Manor.espBetter Dynamic Snow.espRealisticWaterTextures.espbetterwerewolf.espMidasSkyrim.espDeadlySpellImpacts.espKillmove +.espPetSabrecatJango.espinvulnerableuniquehorses.esp Don't see how the mods could've done it though because none of them (As far as I know) really mess with the scripting of the main quests or anything... but thanks for your help meh12345, would still be stuck without you
meh12345
Awesome! For reference, you can use the resetai function (command) in the console to have the NPC you've targeted essentially quit what it's doing and restart its AI processing (it should still react to its environment normally, e.g. if you're in the middle of a fight). The resurrect function can be used to raise the targeted dead NPC, whether from ‘natural’ causes or the kill function, or as I understand it, completely reset a living NPC (this would be bad for a follower, for example). Naelic
Hm. Did you follow this exactly? 1. Go to the wizard's room2. Open console by pressing ~3. If you don't have a dragonstone, type 'help dragonstone' and note the bottom object ID, then 'player.additem <dragonstone id> 1'. You should get a message about receiving the item.4. Type 'resetquest mq104' and then 'resetquest mq103'.5. Type 'sqs mq103'. This will show all the stages of the Barrows quest, ranging from 0 to 200, with the last number 0 for each, meaning they're uncompleted.6. You must 'complete' every stage, in order. So, start with 'setstage mq103 0'. If you type 'sqs mq103' again, it should show you that stage 0 is completed (last number is 1). It may also show stage 1 completed.7. Go through each stage you see uncompleted in sqs, up to and including 180.8. When you're at 180, verify that all stages show 1 in sqs. Your journal should also reflect that you're to return the stone to the wizard.9. Give the stone to the wizard. Your quest should now advance correctly. If so, what's sqs look like at steps 7. and 9.? Also note step 3., there may be multiple Dragonstones listed. I think the bottom one is the correct one (but you could try different ones in the event that makes any difference). I tried these steps several times. Nothing. Then, after seeing something in another forum, after step 8 I went out and fast traveled back to the Barrows. Didn't go in, just fast traveled there and then fast traveled back to the castle, went in and talked to the wizard and, swish, the quest advanced. TheDarkListener34
Hello, I have the same exact problem, I've tried looking for a solution to the problem and I tried it all. Nothing works. Even tried to create a new character, unload all of the mods, load a old save game with no mods, nothing happened. So what do I do to solve this problem? If anyone solved the problem a long time ago, I would very appreciate it. :turned: Mostly I get really mad about these bugs on some of my games, like for example Oblivion or Fallout 3. :pinch:
septemvii
Found a temporary solution... at least in my case If you have a save from before you headed to whiterun, get the golden claw quest at the beginning from the Riverwood Trader and go directly to Bleak Falls. If you have the Dragonstone with you the first time you speak to Farengar you can say "Hey I already got the stone" and the quest progresses as normal. Of course you wont be able to see the scene with Delphine and thusly miss some story but its a solution.
