Basic question about removing items from leveled lists

Recommended Posts

Complete beginner to xEdit, and wanted to ask about a specific function.

I'm trying to figure out how to edit the leveled lists so that certain items don't pop up. Specifically, i'm trying to make it so that the Institute are the only ones who have Laser or Plasma weaponry outside of Robots (I also would like to do something about robot spawn rates but if this is outside my understanding then that's leagues away), to enhance the gap between the Institute and the rest of the Commonwealth.

I've found lots of tutorials on adding items to leveled lists, and a few posts about removing, but when I try to employ their methods, making my own merged patch in FO4Edit and modifying it there, there's something I'm not understanding, because it doesn't work. Specifically, i'm trying to avoid just upping the Chance to None, which, if i'm understanding correctly, makes it so that when the game calculates which weapon a person is holding, if it lands on the weapon that's had the Chance to None upped, rather than rolling a different weapon, they simply spawn with that one, the result essentially having come up empty.

I'm trying to start with smaller stuff in the meantime, see if I can't build up to it, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask. Like I said, i'm definitely a beginner, just starting to understand what all xEdit can do, so an explanation that assumes i'm a complete idiot would not be unappreciated or terribly incorrect. Any help would be awesome

When I right click the "leveled list entry" row of a plug-in, the only options I get are "Hide no-conflict rows", "Stick to", or "Column Width". Is there something with permissions I've missed that'd allow me to do that?

EDIT: Nothing happens when I click the delete key after selecting it either, I should have clarified that.

Alright. I did that, and now I have the option to remove the entry from my override patch. When I do, there's now a blank entry in my override, but the item's still there in the Fallout4.esm. The entry turns yellow when I delete it from the override. Should that do it? It'll use the leveled list in the override patch, which means it won't pull those weapons anymore?
