ilredellefoche
Every time I start the game it brings me to the menu (in which I do not hear the sound), after that I start a new game, sometimes the game goes on for about 1 minute in which however I do not hear any sound except the voice of the prisoners in the wagons after which it crashes. By reading online I found that it probably is due to an audio problem. I've updated the drivers and I have the latest version of DirectX, the only solution I found was to change the sound settings to 16 bit 41k Hz, but since I have windows xp I have different functions and do not have the chance, what can I do? I do have the minimum requirements
fms1
Do you have a sound card or "integrated" sound card, if so it will need to be compatible with the sound setting you use, i.e. if you try 16 bit 41 kHz settings and no compatibility you may hear no sound or same as you have described. Some integrated cards do not have the functionality of an actual sound card. Skyrim will run other sound settings too (I am currently running mine at 24 bit 48 kHz, with an integrated card), I can change to other settings that also work, and some that don't. Also you could try upgrading sound card drivers, and playing around with these settings, should allow you to from your driver info thingy in control panel\hardware and sound\sound and clicking on your appropriate sound output (speaker or digital out) and select properties, you should have a supported formats, and an advanced tab you can change settings on(you may need to right click it to select properties), and also your audio manager in control panel somewhere if you have the option. I hope this helps you out, it definitely sounds like your having a sound issue of sorts.
