Crash when looting chest armour.

I got a bit of a problem looting as well. Whenever i try to loot a male armor, or if i try unequiping my own, i immediatelly get a CTD. It started when i tried to manually install SC Khajiit Improvement 4K with optional Morphs addon to it. Of course it didn't work, so i tried manualy uninstalling it, but then ALL male meshes and texture seemed fecked up, and i got that CTD whenever i unequpied my armor.

I've tried to uninstall any mod that might mess with the male body, but so far nothing.

Found: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/29791/? <<< was using this to remove the golden glow from UNP body.

This mod makes the game CTD when you loot a chest armor from a "leader" of bandits/guards/other groups. Do not install it! Get Dry Skin mod instead (it removes the golden glow also, but without CTDs).

I just got back and am having this issue using seven base and that mod you linked can no longer be found. Which sucks.

Oddly I'm getting this same issues on a clean vanilla game - I have nexus installed but zero mods active... performed a clean install (from Steam) and I get CTD when looting the officer armor in Helgen Keep!

I've tried the FAQ and everything seems in-line with advice... ie running NVIDIA GTX 1080 with triple buffering on etc. All drivers and win 10 up to date...

Any advice to remedy the CTD?

If you go to the NMM Plugins tab, does it show any extra ESPs enabled?

How did you do a clean install? Steam has some odd quirks that you should be aware of:

  • If you unsubscribe from Steam Workshop mods, it doesn't delete them.
  • If you uninstall the game, it doesn't delete any non-vanilla files. This means that mods won't be uninstalled.
  • It doesn't delete your Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini files from Documents\My Games\Skyrim.

The best way to make sure it's clear is to follow the guide: Make Skyrim Vanilla Again.
