chidosity
I've created a derivative work of another artists work, and would like to post my work on the Nexus. I respect artists effort and talent, as I severely lack the later, and do not wish to disrespect anyone or be viewed as a thief. I have messaged the original author to request permission to use their work, and to release my mod publicly, with full credit to them for their effort. How long is an acceptable time period to wait without having received a reply from the author before I can post my mod?
Kalva
I believe. .Never. By the Nexus' rules, you need to wait for permission and get it.. Or simply not post your mod at all. I could be wrong though.
JanusForbeare
Unfortunately, unless the original author gives you permission, you can't post a mod containing elements of their works.
luthienanarion
I asked permission to use another author's assets once and it took five months to hear from them. The person who made the mod request had lost interest by that point, so I never released the mod.
chidosity
Thanks guys. Your replies got me to re-read the posting rules more carefully. I saw this: "You must always get permission from the creator of the work first before you upload it to the site. " at the very bottom of the file upload page. I'll wait to hear from the author.
