SKSE, SSME and the like.

I am in need of a little bit of help here so if anyone has any answers/information for me it would be greatly appreciated.

 

I've ran SKSE (latest version 1.7 something) for a long time and somehow just now stumbled across the SSME patch. From my understanding the patch is built into 1.7 versions of SKSE or later but we have to activate it by creating an SKSE .ini file in the data folder.

 

My question is this (it may be dumb and simple):

 

When I go into my Skyrim folder there is already and SKSE folder there. The description says to create one in the SSME instructions. When I go into the SKSE folder that is inside my data folder it has another folder called plugins. To clarify...

 

The SSME instructions say to "create," an SKSE folder inside the Skyrim Data folder but there's already one there on my PC. Inside that folder (SKSE) that is already there, it has a folder called plugins with various files from mods I've installed.

 

Ultimately my question is, do I still create the .ini file under the SKSE folder (where the plugins folder is located)?

 

My guess is an obvious yes, but anytime I'm messing with files, creating .ini files, etc. I really like to come on here and ask someone who knows better than I do. I would say I'm average at best when it comes to modding.

 

I'm really hoping this can help with some CTD's I've been having for a long, long time. Additionally, I recently installed the safety load (mod) from Nexus. It's worked wonderfully as I've not had one single ILS since installing it. However, I'm still getting a fair amount of CTD's and I'm quite certain that the vast majority of the time it is because of poor memory allocation with my game/system. I can hear my tower rev up and can tell when my game is about to crash. Hopefully some of you guys have an answer here.

Anyone have an answer for this? I still haven't made the changes in my data folder.
