Perhaps some enlightening is in order. The OP's contention is not that classical art is anime. Exactly the opposite point that anime art is predisposed to the same classic standards of beauty as the classical artists.

Rubens females? But if anybody likes to play such, why not? The same for males and we have a loot more variations on NPC's to place in the game and more atmosphere.

;D

It comes back to the pervasive overblown, self-entitled and self-inflated attitude of one who thinks they are the ultimate critic, and should be the arbiter and dictator of what is presented for consumption.

The other point I want to make, is that this seems to me to be a knee jerk reactionary response from the community that hated the Japanese influence in Oblivion. They love to complain but you don't see many of them get off their asses and learn blender, do you?

The more modders, the more variations, the more mods to choose. it is that simple.

And this one last thing that is slightly off topic, but I have been doing a lot of research into the history of women warriors, and the fact is there is such a dearth of women warriors historically, that most women warriors simply adapted mens armors as best they could, and most likely only fought a short while out of necessity rather than a career. There just isn't much to go on, except fantasy. And in fantasy you can do whatever you want. That's why the realism argument always fails.

Research that too and it is valid due the fact that over the centuries multiple cases, where women have disguised them selves to participate in wars.

Why is this relevant to your topic, because they are likely labeling everything that is feminine and somewhat or perceptually viewed "modern" as anime. Am I right?

I give you "misogyny".

Hem Hem ..."Cloud and Serpinroth" (there are some mods for this and a that) Yes, we only talked about female anime until now what about the male one are they not amine and thus rated down by this as well?

on art:

There's a black canvas that hangs in a museum, insured because it's considered 'art' but by one persons reckoning i've seen, it isn't because it definitely didn't take more than 5 minutes to create. photographs are considered art. also by that same persons reckoning they aren't, very few photographs take that persons arbitrary 15 minutes.

there are artists today that easily surpass the old masters, so why is there work less valued? because they didn't do it first. andy warhols ahem...work any 3rd grader could have done, why is he famous? he did it first, along with his (at the time) hip attitude.

art is forever in the eye of the beholder, those that can't create instead critique, endless cycle. art is bringing something from your minds eye to reality to allow others to see what you see. the more capable you are of doing that, the more able you are to induce in the beholders your intent, emotion, or statement you wish to make~>that makes you an artist, to convey what you want to convey without words (or very few)

anime is art, as is manga, much of which shatters that 15 minute rule (Redline, Kara no Kyoukai), drawing one character may take very little time, animating that character, using imaginary camera angles to highlight scenes, adding backgrounds, and more characters, then inking that rough draft...all this from nothing...the old masters had people to draw/paint...where do you find people that look like anime characters? in the artists mind. they bring it to life, they are able to convey through their work what they want too, elicit the responses they wish to create. that is art.

on anime style in western rpg's:

the animosity or backlash towards anime is confusing, as is the confusion of what is considered an anime character, clothing or hairstyle. all i can figure is they don't get out much/inexperienced and/or young. i've seen hair of every shade (especially during the 80's), hairstyles of every type and fashions of wildly varying styles...all on real people, if those were ported to a game there would be cries of anime, weaboo, etc. yet they were/are western styles uninfluenced by anime styles. they were before anime became popular, before the internet existed as it does now. meh, in some fashion shows today you see styles that would be considered anime...made by westerners who probably have never seen an anime in their life.

side note since there might be a few anime fans in this topic....anyone know the anime my ava came from? ^_^ ( you'll get a free :psyduck: )
