Rennn
I'll be running along, and suddenly I'll notice that there're LOD ground textures under my feet. I'll wait a few seconds, and it'll turn back to regular ground textures. My settings are on high, and it's not like I have the LOD start set low in the .ini. I'm not sure what's causing this. It's not a new problem; I've had this issue for a while. I also can't link it to any particular mod, especially since I haven't downloaded a mod that alters LOD loading in any way. My ugrids are at 7, but this also occurred before I raised my ugrids. Ideas?
fms1
It may possibly be a bug with map LOD, I noticed on the list of a bug for A Quality World Map With Roads mod with the cloth map type optional that it would show up as world map LOD files, and you may see the cloth map as in game terrain LOD. That's just my guess though, as I am not really familiar with how map and game LOD files are treated by the exe..
Korodic
is this in a mod you are making? Or Vanilla skyrim land? I assume this happens randomly, and it not narrowed down to a location you could link to a mod?
Rennn
It happens randomly, everywhere. I don't have a large HD texture pack. Indeed, I have no new textures for terrain at all.
fms1
Even if you have no terrain textures, some mods that add houses, castles, trees\foliage etc. can also add LOD files, because those are the files that you're seeing when you see something distant. Also it may possibly be an ini. tweek vs. video card limits.
Rennn
I'll be sure to check my LOD folder, thanks for the tip. Edit:I don't have any new LOD textures, which makes sense as I don't have any non-vanilla structures. So far all my mods have been petty retextures for individual items or gameplay changes. fms1
My guess would be video card capability, I have a XFX HD 6870 1gb dual fan factory overclocked (stock gpu and vram clock) running very high with screen res 1920x1080i and my video card is maxed performance, I get occasional rendering problems. Also I run Win 7 x64 and I hear Win XP runs graphics way better. If you run SKSE you can use ELYS MemInfo here on Skyrim Nexus for some memory stats plus fps, mine runs about 55 frames at the top step of Dragonsreach, that's with Skyboost (Scriptdragon plugin), without I run about 47 frames.
