Pieces never seem to line up in those circumstances unless the grid snap is really small and most kits will not work well with a different kit. @Dragten, the settings it is designed for that you listed are industry standards. for grid snaps moving an item in any xyz direction it will always be equally moved and will always line up with another object of equal dimensions as long as they are both snapped to the grid.
