Scrap Everything Isn't Working With New Update

I have the new F4SE. I have buildings and other things that I had scrapped a long time ago in my settlements that have reset. So now I have buildings and trees inside or clipping through the new buildings I have built. I would just scrap those things again but now I cannot even highlight the old buildings to scrap them. Do I need to wait for the mod to be updated?

I have spring cleaning not scrap everything. Sorry. Here is my load order. I've been using loot every time I enable a new mod. Nexus doesn't let me upload my F4SE log to show you my load order:

I have fallout.esm then all dlc, 7) True Storms, 8) Armor Keywords, 9) Settlement Keywords, 10) Homemaker 11) Companion Infinat Ammo, 12)Videomaster, 13) Spring Cleaning

The rest of my mods are esp's.

I've disabled and enabled spring cleaning to no effect. Would I screw things up if I disabled spring cleaning and downloaded and enabled scrap everything instead?

With Spring Cleaning, you're gonna want a patch. If you're curious why, scrap mods like SC and SE rely on disabling precombined meshes/previs, two performance systems explained pretty well [https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/5522717-fallout-4-optimization-and-performance-systems-explained]here[/url].

Or you could switch, though I will warn you that some people don't like that it lets you scrap a bit more than Spring Cleaning (i.e. they accidentally scrap roads/foundations, or have to be very careful not to). Shadowslasher is working on an in-game system that will let you disable scrapping for whatever you want, which will fix that issue, but it's hard to say when it will be ready (the game really doesn't make it easy). So if that's something you think might be an issue, I'd suggest just using that patch until the SE update is ready. And I definitely suggest saving often if you decide to go ahead and switch now.

But yes, switching is fine. Due to how both mods work (very similar, I guess you could say it's methods are a bit more developed), you shouldn't have any issues. You could even disable it for a while, and when you re-enable it later on the things you had previously scrapped will disappear again.

The patch fixed the problem. Thank you very much! I didn't realize there was a patch. I've used scrap everything in the past and scrapped something I did not want too. I believe that's the reason I save as often as I do now, as you suggested. The link to the article was very informative also. I'm not new to using mods but I am definitely an amateur at it.

One more question as I have seen conflicting opinions on this issue. I have a couple of dirty plugins and a bunch of itm records in my master files but I'm having no issues as far as I know other than the occasional CTD. My attitude towards this has been if its not broken don't fix it especially because I'm not sure what I'm doing in Fedit. Should master files be cleaned?

Thanks again for the help!

I personally avoid cleaning plugins (especially DLC) of ITMs unless it being dirty will cause problems (with ITMs, that's generally just if Bethesda updates the base record, or you have another mod trying to change the same record.

For the other types of dirty edits, I'd recommend cleaning most of them. Any deleted records should be undeleted and disabled. If the crashes you mention are a result of dirty mods, it's probably some mod author deleting records. And it's often a good idea to use the "Check for Errors" option. Some are mostly fine (any issue caused will be unnoticeable, though some intended feature might not work), but "Error: Could not be resolved" can frequently cause crashes. It means the mentioned record is referencing a record that doesn't exist. It tends to happen either when someone improperly deletes a record (i.e. they didn't update all the records that reference it), or if there's some weirdness with the order of the master records the plugin references (in which case, the last 6 characters would be right, but it wouldn't have the right load order for the plugin the record is from).
