nerium
So, I've recently finished Dead Money and used the wonderful work of existing mods to drag Dean Domino back to the Strip-- because I do so love a backstabbing a**hole. And tonight I'm wondering if it might be possible to script and build a similarly cloned companion that if left in Sandbox mode in the Aces during the performance window, might trigger the song/animation combo that runs when the hologram plays back at the Tampico/Sierra Madre. I have absolutely no clue how animations are triggered by NPCs in game, so I may be making some assumptions that are completely screwy, but hopefully I can express my thinking well enough that someone who is more familiar with mod-making can say if it's possible or not and maybe point me in the right direction. So I'm kinda thinking the hologram @ the Tampico is just an "transparently skinned" NPC instance, (similar to how I suppose that the security holograms are implemented)-- That spawns, performs and despawns when the song is done. ((Here I'm guessing I could take a look at the Tampico and see if it's a home cell for a hologram-Dean NPC)) The other major component would be to see how Bruce Issacs and the Cowboy performer NPCs are scripted in that window starting at ~20:00hrs where they go up on stage and do their little song. ((Here I'd want to eyeball Bruce Issacs or whoever and see if it's conditions are based on the Aces/Tommy Tostito(whatever that dude's name is) quest that triggers the performance animation and the song-- or if they're something like IF in the Aces AND time==20:00hrs THEN perform animation/play sound file.)) This of course goes to hell if Dean's hologram isn't really an NPC performing an animation. I suppose there could be some conflicts with some of the companion scripting, and I'm thinking that sandbox mode essentially tells an NPC to pull from a library of animations, perhaps linked/limited to specific locations. So if Bruce Issacs and the other performers have a condition to 'perform' given time/whatever variables, could it be possible to script up similar conditions for the clone of Dean that's following me around based on him being in the Aces and sandboxed (or not) during the performance window? Quetzlsacatanango
I have been intending to do an update to Reunited that puts Dean in the Tops instead of his Villa apartment, since that makes more sense considering his ending. I think it would be a trivial change to have him actually play there. Does he actually sing in Dead Money or is it just a holo with no audio? I can't remember. nerium
I have been intending to do an update to Reunited that puts Dean in the Tops instead of his Villa apartment, since that makes more sense considering his ending. I think it would be a trivial change to have him actually play there. Does he actually sing in Dead Money or is it just a holo with no audio? I can't remember. The hologram that appears as part of "Curtain Call at the Tampico" (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Curtain_Call_at_the_Tampico) when you activate the projector has 'singing' animations and "Something's Gotta Give" plays-- though it's actually the same Bing Crosby track that plays on Radio New Vegas (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Something%27s_Gotta_Give). The hologram is activated at stage 4 of the quest according to the fallout wiki. I was thinking it might be possible to trace the animation and music, copy the appropriate references and add conditions to the companion instance of Dean, to trigger when he's chilling in the Aces, modelling it after the performer NPCs once they've moved when completing the "Talent Pool" (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Talent_Pool) quest.
