There seems to be no end of these kind of mods.

Is there any consensus about which is better/ easier to install / more stable etc ?

Everyone has different tastes in what they like. I personally use the Superl3 ENB which includes the Realistic Lighting mod also. It looks amazing. I have tried most of these at one time or another and this one is the total package so there is no need to install anything else with it. Super easy installation and performance tweaks are already done for you so you don't have to mess around with enb ini to make it run smooth. I recommend everyone to at least give this one a try. The main difference in the lighting mods and the enb is the ssao that enb uses. Lighting mods only change the light effects where enb uses the best ssao available to make everything in the game look better. Hope you find one you like.

I like the ENB mods, some are too blurry though or too bright but as I have an ATI card I get radioactive bright blue horizons or mountains at night and with some bright blue water. ENB also uses up a bit of frame rates. Realistic lighting doesn't use up frame rates and can be very nice, sometimes too dark in some buildings but blame that on poor light sources (or none) or look for an RL setting with better indoors lighting.

I use the following realistic lighting setup - http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/584202-another-realistic-lighting-ini-config/page__p__4718943__fromsearch__1#entry4718943

All of the ENB mods will be too bright unless you change bFloatPointRendererTarget in your Skyrim prefs ini to 1. A lot of them have also started using the bokeh depth of field which is what causes the blurriness. The Superl3 ENB has an optional file to disable the blur effect. Just install manually and in optional files there is a no ssao no dof file and ssao no dof file. I recommend the ssao no dof for the best looking version. The performance hit on this one is very small too so it is worth checking out. It also includes the Realistic Lighting and the effects together with the enb are really fantastic looking. I especially like the magic effects at night.

Personally I love Superl3 ENB. It's my favorite so far and you can change the blur settings manually if you like. Take a look at the comments in that mod for more information on how to do it exactly. Thanks on linking it back to me though, I was looking everywhere for this mod but couldn't find it after installing windows 8 :/

I love CLO. It's subtle, but it has no performance hit and it really does change the lighting colors to be deceptively high-quality and vibrant. Screenshots don't really do it justice.

Another thing; make sure your monitor is set up well. I keep my sharpness low, my stauration high, my contrast high, and my brightness medium-high. You wouldn't believe how much just tweaking your monitor's settings can improve graphics for specific games.
